He didn't win and then was elected, winning was the act of being elected. He shouldn't have been elected because he shouldn't have won because he shouldn't have made it past the primaries because The People should be smarter than that. Why not? He won didn't he? Are you saying we shouldn't adhere to the will of the people?

Those examples kinda prove my point...Smarter? Didn't Clinton and Bush the jr win? Didn't Romney make it through the primaries? Seriously, think about it.
I don' think I'd go that far - most elections, I'd say, produce a majority vote for one side or the other.Yeah, most elections are already plurality popular vote...

It's true, people suck. Then your problem is with the American public and a lack of faith in the democratic process.
...I'm scared to look....You should check out what the Texas GOP put in their platform concerning critical thinking.
Was discussing this w/ some friends...
It's not out of the question that Romney will significantly win the popular vote and Obama, the EV by a small margin.
Say Obama wins 271-267.
Say two of "His" electors see that the people overwhelmingly voted for Romney and decisde to switch their vote to Romney.
Imagine the uproar.
Some state law mandates thay the electors vote as per the election. Some do not. That, more than anything else, would probably bring about an end to the electoral college. If electors don't adhere to the pledged votes from the states, then why bother voting at all? Our votes would literally mean nothing.

In all reality, your vote already means nothing

I live in Washington DC, so this is doubly true. My presidential vote doesn't matter, since DC is close to 80% blue. I don't HAVE representation in congress, and every act by my local government is subject to being overruled by the congress (that I have no vote in). Nobody gets more shafted in the electoral or representative process than the residents of DC.
