Hello and Welcome to the FIFA Club World Cup pick ‘em game. Group stages are worth 10 points, and then an additional ten points per round after that.
The FIFA Club World Cup is hosted in North America this year. There are four teams from the AFC (Al Hilal, Urawa Red Diamonds, Al Ain, and Ulsan HD). Al Hilal qualified by winning the AFC Champions League in 2021, Urawa Red Diamonds qualified by winning the 2022 AFC Champions League, and Al Ain won by winning the 2023-24 AFC Champions league. Finally, Ulsan HD qualified through its 4-year ranking in the AFC.
There are three teams from the CAF, the Wydad AC, the Espérance de Tunis, and the Mamelodi Sundowns. Wydad AC were qualified by winning the 2021-2022 CAF Champions League, while the other two qualified because of their four-year CAF ranking.
There are four teams from the CONCACAF, Monterrey, the Seattle Sounders FC, León, and Pachuca. Monterrey qualified when it won the 2021 CONCACAF Champions League, while the Seattle Sounders FC did it in 2022, and León did it in 2023. Pachuca won the 2024 CONCACAF Champions Cup.
There are six teams from the CONMEBOL,. Palmeiras, Flamengo, Fluminense, River Plate, and Boca Juniors. Palmeiras qualified by winning the 2021 Copa Libertadores, Flamengo won the 2022 Copa Libertadores, Fluminense won the 2023 Copa Libertadores, and Botafogo won the 2024 Copa Libertadores. Meanwhile, River Plate and Boca Juniors qualified through their 4-year CONMEBOL ranking.
There is only one team from the OFC, which is Auckland City. They qualified by being the best OFC Champions League winners in the OFC-4 year ranking.
There are 12 teams from UEFA. These are Chelsea, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Milan, Porto, Benfica, Borussia Dortmund, Juventus, Atlético Madrid, and Red Bull Salzburg. Chelsea qualified by winning the 2020-21 UEFA Champions League, Real Madrid won the championship in 2021-2022 and 2023-2024, and Manchester City won it in 2022-2023. Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Milan, Porto, Benfica, Borussia Dortmund, Juventus, Atlético Madrid, and Red Bull Salzburg all made it in via their 4-year raking in UEFA.
Finally, Inter Miami CF, the winner of the 2024 MLS Supporters’ Shield, will be the host of the tournament and therefore will participate.
