Ms. Farkas said the Obama administration tried to preserve the intelligence on Trump's staffers because they were afraid that once Trump was in office they would try to destroy the evidence. So it wouldn't have been Obama's staff that wanted the evidence destroyed....it would've been Trump's staffers.

They seemed particularly worried about Flynn and his little circle who hated the CIA. So it's interesting that it was a close ally of Flynn that was one of Nunes sources in the WH.

Now...I have my own suspicion as to why. Based on the Farkas revelations, they already knew exactly what Nunes viewed. Yup, all of this was one giant show to cover up the Russian collusion investigation. As was Trump's tweet "diverting attention" from Sessions recusing himself (again, over lying about his meeting with the Russian ambassador) by saying he was illegally surveilled.

The press conference contained nothing about gaining intelligence from White House officials. There's also nothing to confirm what the intelligence is or that he necessarily even briefed Trump on that intelligence. We only have Nunes' incredibly dubious word for it, and since his credibility has been deep sixed nothing he says that isn't under oath is worth anything. We do not know that he insists on being the chair of a an intelligence oversight committee tasked with investigating possible collusion between Russian meddling and the Trump campaign, all while acting as a surrogate for Trump. He also refuses to share his intelligence with the rest of the intelligence committee, so trust in what has traditionally been a bipartisan institution has been shot to hell. Watching Nunes flail about trying to find a narrative to anchor himself to is painful to watch.
