This is awfully like a replay of what happened sometime back in May. The four horsemen of the apocalypse: Starmer, Macron, Merz and Tusk had appeared in Kyiv where they issued what was supposed to be a final ultimatum to Putin. Putin had less than thirty six hours to agree to a ceasefire or face apocalyptic sanctions. They added that they had the backing of the White House. And they did indeed hold a conference call with Trump; all four of them, with Zelensky screaming in the background. Somehow it all fizzled out

The leaders of Germany, France, the United Kingdom and Poland have told Russian leader Vladimir Putin to agree to a
30-day ceasefire starting on Monday or face possible “massive” sanctions, according to French President Emmanuel Macron, on a highly symbolic visit to Kyiv. The demand comes with the backing of the White House after a joint phone call with President Donald Trump, the Europeans said.
