Putin had less than thirty six hours to agree to a ceasefire or face apocalyptic sanctions. They added that they had the backing of the White House. And they did indeed hold a conference call with Trump; all four of them, with Zelensky screaming in the background. Somehow it all fizzled out

I completely agree with your first sentence! Vance was in Europe 2 days ago, meeting with these countries - likely the countries who will now be financially funding the (potential) continuation of this war.
