NFL players should be allowed to honor their country by protesting injustice. NFL policy that disallows honoring the country would be absurd.
Its the content of the protests that are absurd. If someone is pissed at McDonalds and protest McDonalds by them and several of their friends ****ting on your porch daily, what are you going to focus on...McDonalds or someone ****ting on your porch?

The protests themselves are joke.

Unless of course you are comfortable claiming we have a problem with 'the blacks' in America because a lot of black people commit violent crime.

Perhaps you would be more comfortable if he said "a country that includes citizens as well as legal, structural, and cultural systems that oppress black people" rather than "a country that oppresses black people". It's a matter of semantics really.

Nope...I think ANYONE that says "a country that doesnt...." with regards to blacks in America is an idiot, a hypocrite, a bigot, and a douchebag. See...to make that idiotic claim you would have to ignore a black president, black congressmen, black Supreme Court justices, black millionaires, black media moguls, black professors, black doctors, black businessmen at all levels...hell...a person would have to have Hancock help them shove their head even further up their own ass than it obviously already is and completely ignore the successes of black Americans in American 'society'.

I did indeed say that anyone that claims that "The country" is racist is making an idiotic claim. Its as stupid to say "The Country" is racist as it is to say "the blacks" are violent murderous scumbags just because a significant number of them are.

Individuals can be racist. Many are. "The Country" is not.

It only got to this because of the absolute garbage in the white house. Really didn't seem to be a big deal when there was an adult in the white house.

I don't recall the NFL players protesting during the anthem when there was an adult in the white house.

Now the NFL top to bottom is looking for a face saving way out of the problem they created for themselves. That won't happen either.

You would be aghast if someone suggested there is a problem with "the blacks"....and rightfully so-even though an abnormally large percentage of black Americans commit violent crime and murder. But you have no problem with using the descriptor as "The Country..." if there are citizens within the country that are racist.

"The Country" does not oppress black Americans. For anyone to make the claim that it does you would have to intentionally ignore the numbers and opportunists of and for black Americans. Protesting "The Country" is idiotic.
 
They walk on the field, the cameras are running, they're working.

It does not matter if they are working. They have a right to free expression when it does not interfere with their work duties.

They get on the field. They play the game. They can kneel on the field and sit on a bench and expose tattoos and make the sign of the cross when they score because it does not inhibit their ability to do their job.

Some Americans are racist. Some Americans are not racist. "The country" is an inanimate concept and cannot itself "be" racist. I accept that much of the issue on which you have been stuck for four posts.

There is still systemic racism within the US, however, that has historical and ongoing effects on the legal, structural, and cultural systems of the country. That is why we cannot transfer responsibility for improving the problems from the society at large to just those people who do and say racist things.
