Re: 11.09.2001-2008(and beyond), the fall of the US constitution and the rights of pe
Wealth is not really best measured in GDP per capita per annum nor per hour. I would say the French are richer than Americans, considering having the best or one of the very best health care systems in the world and in forefront of medical development. All this is provided free to everyone in France.... Besides this there is also a social system incomparable to the US. A state who can afford to take care of the weak the sick and the people who dont work, is in my opinion a rich state and a rich people.
On top of this the people are not constantly working like in the US, the French can afford shorter hours and more vacation and time for relaxation and other pleasures. That is how wealth should truly be measured. Not by GDP, but by state services and citizens spare time(and of course quality of such).
Despite all this, the French per capita GDP is only about 20% lower than that of the US..
I certainly hope Sarkozy will not be able to change the wonderful society the French have built, and I certainly understand the French when they protest change.
yes but I think he wants to say that if the French worked as much as the Americans, they would be richer than you, because they are more efficient
