In a recent training operation, a Type 22 boat commanded by Yang Wu from the PLA Eastern Theater Command intercepted a foreign naval warship that had allegedly entered Chinese territorial waters.

I don't usually post from such silly sites, but the fact that this information is so public that yahoo news has the full run down of Chinese naval operations had me giggling. China must be pretty upset.

What is funny about this story?
No idea. It appears to be a licensed article from interesting engineering.com that is basically one of those “generate an article from a speculators spec sheet” things designed to get clicks and drive ad revenue. I’m guessing @Metric Mouse is the target demographic - easy to rile up and monetize.

Seems more like propaganda for the Chinese stealth ship.

Ok, so I read the article. Those small ships look cool and definitely could be dangerous. I emphasize "could be" but we won't know till they engage a larger US warship.

However, I saw NOTHING in the article that suggests that ............

China must be pretty upset.

I am not sure of your point? Do you have one? Are you suggesting the 200 ton boats are no match for the US Navy? If so, you would be gravely mistaken.... Reading the description, they appear to be pretty effective weapons (fast, agile and well armed, small targets -- and most importantly, numerous --- like a swarm of bees).

The US military has had difficultly with 4th generation warfare tactics...

Janes used to be available in public libraries

Nothing? At all?

😀

Ok then. Guess they are opsec clean... lawl

Yes. And you missed it, even though I literally posted a huge spoiler in the op...

I might disagree with you for various reasons, mostly that the US navy would hardly raise its heart rate dealing with this threat from 1000 miles away, but that still isn't my point.

No one is seems to get the point, perhaps you can state it clearly

I still don't know your point but Chinese would simply overwhelm us is a naval conflict.

Germany had the best tanks, by far during world war 2. We overwhelmed them with numbers.

Poland had more bicycles than Germany had tanks, but still got overwhelmed.

If one were to ignore the fact that your understanding of naval power is literally a grade school level of "Bigger number of fishing boats beats aircraft carriers!!!" dumb, your post still doesn't address my point.

Chinese naval commanders must be laughing in their Signal chat... :)

The fact that Yahoo News knows the capabilities, armament, patrol routes, usage, top speed, range, exact missile count and their capabilities, AND the literal names of the crew members manning and commanding the boats...

Shows just how porous Chinese military activities are.

And this doesn't even begin to explore the dogs that didn't bark...

Imagine how embarrassing or dangerous it would be to simply post in a Signal chat that a ship was leaving port... much less all of this info known by literally Yahoo ****ing news.

Did that answer your question?

Lawl.

I think it is clear which one of us has no knowledge of naval force projection...

😀

It's wild that you can't back up your arguments...

Not clear why you think that this information was not released by the CCP itself.

Let me guess, you have some navel affiliation that compel your ignorant posts.
I wake boarded with an ex girlfriend once....

Does that count? 😀

But I'm still not dumb enough to think that a converted casino boat is equal in power to a Nimitz class carrier... much less 11 of them...

Take a look at the type 55 and type 52 destroyers China is producing at a rate of 8 or so a year

If you are thinking that China only has 200 ton missile boats to counter the US navy you are mistaken

This is such an entertaining post because it’s a special thing when there are not one but multiple face plants all at once.

I love how the poster thought this was a Yahoo News article, not knowing that Yahoo these days simply licenses and redistributes content. In this case it’s an Interesting Engineering article. It’s here: https://interestingengineering.com/military/china-deploys-200-ton-attack-boats

And as that article makes clear, the article is little more than a text summary of a CCTV program and Xinhua News Agency releases during the PLA navy annual celebrations last week. aka China released this info through its centrally controlled media intentionally. So, his “China sure must be upset lol” is his 2nd faceplant.

I’m not sure we’ve seen a MAGA faceplant in three different ways on a single thread so here’s hoping @Metric Mouse goes for a trifecta.

The US Navy’s struggles off the coast of Yemen— where they apparently just lost another fighter jet— strongly argue otherwise.
