It’s not quite stupidity, Trump does this amorphous blob routine. What you see in Trump is, to a large degree, in the eye of the beholder, because he doesn’t speak in facts and certainties. He doesn’t say what his true intentions are.

So she saw in Trump what she wanted to see, for example, she probably expected that Trump’s immigration policy would be like it was in his first term. She actually had good reasons to believe he would be consistent. But she also had good reasons to believe he wouldn’t be, she picked and chose what to believe.

I think everyone is a bit Trump saturated, we’ve all had so much Trump exposure that we all feel confident in our own assessments of Trump. We all think we’ve figured him out, we all have confidence from all that repetition.

Uh uhhh, she just wanted to celebrate her hatred for her own people, thinking he was only going to "go after THE BAD ones".
