He's not my hero, far from it. You aren't my hero, either. I've read enough of it to know it is a waste of my time. If I want more interesting gossip, I can talk to most of the neighborhood women and most of the men. Millions of people bought pet rocks, millions more bought fidgets. So what? You need something far better to hang your hat on.

This morning I started re-reading Allan W. Eckert's Wilderness Histories. Far more interesting. Might do you some good.

Take your own advice about appreciating the value of nuance. Obama's lies put added nuclear power into the hands of the Iranians & cocaine into the streets of the US, which is the driving reason for violence in cities like Chicago.

Let me rephrase, so you can't just edit out 80% of my comment for the sake of your agenda; according to a blog that appears on the Washington Post's website, Trump was lying when he said 'Obamacare is dying'.

Now tell me why you're obsessing about that.

Let me explain which bill he was pushing for, since you don't seem to know. He was pushing for multiple variations of a a healthcare bill that would have stripped over thirty million Americans of their healthcare and medicaid. This is confirmed. In order to try to convince Americans that this was necessary he lied to the American people that Obamacare was defunct, when in fact the opposite was true. Yet you consider that an insignificant lie. Your judgment is not good.

Compared to lying about terrorism/nuclear weapons/allowing cocaine into American ghettos...yes, its less significant.

I could ask you if you really care about helping the poor/disadvantaged, when you've made every attempt to avoid the fact that Obama helped smooth a path for a drug to enter the country that has plagued poor, black communities for 40 years.

Yes, 25 years before the 'Hope and Change' candidate took office. Yet B.O.'s govt funneled assault weapons to Mexican drug cartels, and worked with Muslim terrorist organizations to ensure transport of cocaine.

His legacy isn't any better than that of Reagan's.

Okay, so in your set of values:

1)Lying is okay, and
2)Lying doesn't matter if the lie concerns a narrative pushing for a bill in which over thirty million Americans will lose their coverage and/or medicaid.

You're certainly free to hold those value, but that puts you in an outlier segment of the American public that nobody takes seriously.
 
We have a brand new storefront community bookstore in the neighborhood. It opened this past Tuesday, with an all volunteer staff. A lot of children's books, teenage fair, best sellers and books about the neighborhood, nearby neighborhoods, and by local authors. I just came in after a walk with the dog in this lovely 15 degree weather. When I passed the store, I noticed they had about 40 copies of the book sitting on a table in the window. Went in, asked if they sold any, and the answer was 1. Granted not many out walking, but the store is across the street from a 7/11 and garners a bit more traffic than the rest of neighborhood on days like today or yesterday. Plus it is next door to a popular bakery, and on the other side, a busy pizzeria. People working there are going to get fat.

About a dozen customers were in the store, perusing the stock. That was more than the bakery or the pizzeria were enjoying on this very cold day. Yeah, we also stopped at the bakery, after buying a copy of Zane Grey's Riders of the Purple Sage, never did get around to reading it before. :)
