Florida currently leads the nation in new cases per day, third behind MS and LA in new cases per capita. DeathSantis' dictate to only release the data once per week on Fridays isn't helping.

Nearly every county in Florida is getting infected at more than one in a hundred people PER DAY. In Jacksonville, for instance, one in 66 people is getting infected every single day.

I have given up on the right doing the sensible thing.

We have to plan on the fact that the pandemic includes millions of MAGA freaks that will act as a reservoir for the virus.

Of course California has the most cases -- it's the most populous state in the union.

CA Covid cases per million inhabitants are below those of Texas and Florida -- states with far fewer residents. Same with Covid deaths per million.

What about all those other governors? Why the boner for DeSantis?
And not for nothing, but we'll see every state spike with Delta sooner or later, just like we did with Alpha.
It's what the virus does.

But the good news is that DeSantis successfully vaccinated the at-risk population in Florida, while Cuomo sent seniors to their deaths in nursing homes.

California has the spike, and reacted according to best medical advice. Therefore, cases lower than those in Florida.
DeSantis does whatever he feels is best for his political popularity with the Trump wing of the GOP, and has (at least twice) thrown Floridians under the Covid bus for his personal gain.

We see what DeSantis is doing (and Abbott), and playing with the lives of others doesn't sit well.

NY and the New England states were the first in the country to be hit hard by Covid; no vaccine in sight, and hospitals overwhelmed.

Nursing homes packed with covid, killing the weak and defenseless.
That will never have not happened.

This is just sickening, and so much of it unnecessary.

Maybe the survival rate is higher, but with so many hospitalizations, think of all the surgeries, lifesaving treatments, cancer detections, and other procedures and diagnoses that arent happening? Short and long term, this leads to other deaths.
