Due to the many ways to utilize the Ukrainian short I or Yot, the name of Ukraine's new president can be [correctly] presented as Zelenskiy, Zelensky, or Zelenskyy.

I have been using Zelensky, but the president says he prefers the Zelenskyy iteration and it is spelled this way on his passport.

No choice is technically wrong, but I will honor his personal preference of Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Another elective is the unusual spelling of Yulia (Julia) by his official spokesperson who prefers Iuliia Mendel. I'll go with that also.

I would use what the New York Times uses, and copy them. They seem to be the style sheet standard bearer.

I think honoring a personal choice is the right thing to do and the Times will do so.

The Times already uses the iteration Iuliia Mendel.
