Youngkin signs executive orders banning critical race theory, lifting mask mandate in Virginia public schools

No, but it is exactly what this mob will try and do if it suceeded in intimidating its way to whitewashing the American school curriculum.

Of course, the party could care less about curriculum.

They care about triggering an audience that they can get to vote their guy in. Who cares if the issue is real? If you can pander to fear and anxiety in your base, you’re in!

And the racist mob stopped storming meeting the minute the man on their screen started talking about something else.

I fully expect multiple GOP candidates to work this play this year. I expect right wing media to be full of it.

After all, it doesn’t matter to this audience that this is all bogus.

They all bought birtherism. They cheered Trump loudly every time he did his signature race baiting.

And now, they’re media leads them on another race based imaginary crisis.

Birtherism, CRT, the war on Christmas.

It’s all the same flim flam. And the same audience falls for it every time.
Your party is toast because of terrible policies snd not because of republicans

Nobody’s going to pull state funding.
Younkin will spank the union thugs and belligerent CRT crybaby teachers. already investigating them on Day one.

It seems to be working. Sometimes, it’s important to remind public school teachers that they work for (and are paid by) the state, not the teacher unions or woke colleges which trained them.

Do you find intimidation to be an appropriate management tool? Good Lord, I hope not.

It is your contention that none of it applies to VA. I don't know but based on how VA turned out and voted I believe that parents there believe it is occurring.

You call it authoritarian but they elected a governor who said he was going to do exactly what he did. Sounds to me like they voted for what they wanted. That is not authoritarian.

I saw no references to Virginia in your source.

People vote for authoritarians all the time. That's how the vast majority of them get and stay in power.

Which school in VA was teaching CRT? For that matter, what school district anywhere in the US teaches CRT?
That's what I would like to know

It's up to the parents.
If they don't want their young child to learn about evolution, they should be given the chance to opt out.
Why? To keep the next generation as ignorant as the last? And is that something really what you want to teach your children? That when anything becomes somewhat challenging that they can simply "opt out" if it makes them in any way, somewhat 'uncomfortable'? Is that how things in real life actually work?

Why, exactly, are you upset over a ban on something which (allegedly) is not currently happening? Getting upset over nothing is what makes the “woke” look like such whining fools. Claiming that CRT (or parts thereof) Is not being taught and then squealing about how terrible a ban on teaching it will be makes absolutely no sense.
So why then is an executive official issuing executive orders about something that isn't happening at all, not concerning to you? What other mirages or imaginations should he unilaterally give the force of law to?

Sure, suggest whatever you want.

I'd suggest Youngkin listened and heard, during his campaign. what a great many of his constituents had to say to him. Maybe instead of telling them - no, you're wrong, there is no CRT being taught or pushed anywhere in this state or country - he listened to them tell him what they had heard, what they had observed during all those online months, and what they were very concerned about.
No, he heard and saw a bunch of idiotic parents screaming about masks and CRT, and idiotic McAuliff made a stupid statement about how parents shouldn't have a say in what was taught in schools, and Youngkin jumped on it.

Not one school district in VA teaches CRT. Youngkin played to the emotions of Fox News parents ad he won.

Excellent .. hopefully they'll target the restrictive gun legislation signed into law by former blackface Northam as well.

It's not stupid at all; it's an effort to teach history accurately in an effort to understand the present. If you want to deport all non-whites out of the country and turn the US into an all-white society, well then there's no need to understand that dark past.

You think they give a shit? The whole point is to silence talk about race and racism.

And the Republicans do not give a toss about any of that.

Lmao.

First it's "not taught at all and doesn't exist"

Now it's "a way to accurately teach history"

Liberals. 😂

Loudoun County parents certainly and passionately felt it WAS happening to their own children. It seems the liberal stance (very strongly) is to now say it didn't happen and never has happened. Which by the way, seems to be a shift from what I remember just months ago on DP, when CRT conversations began. I remember many liberals saying, then, that CRT is the right way and it's important in order for children to fully understand history and current times.
Then polls started popping up where those polled were asked their opinion about CRT. The poll numbers were terrible in terms of CRT support. So, the liberals backed up (just exactly as they did with "defund the police") and created a new narrative. The new narrative is - What CRT? CRT isn't being taught anywhere.
The problem is that's not what parents are seeing with their own eyes and hearing from their own children. So, the new narrative is viewed as disingenuous.
Liberals have a problem with their narratives. Saying inflation is transitory, the economy is great, CRT isn't happening, covid is a pandemic of the unvaccinated, and on and on and on and on and on - doesn't work. People know, see, feel, experience - a different reality from these narratives - and Dems tank as a result.
Younkin listened and heard. Youngkin didn't say - Oh no, you're just imagining what you are seeing, hearing, feeling and experiencing. The teacher didn't mean it that way, He/she really meant something else and you're misinterpreting what you heard or what your child told you about.
EVERYTHING the Dems do is about a narrative and so much of it does not reflect reality. Often the narrative is the exact opposite of the lived experience of the people voting and of their children. Dems think they have a messaging problem. But they don't understand what their messaging problem is. Their messaging problem is fake narratives that don't/can't ring true. Honesty would go a long way.

When you get your version of the “liberal narrative” from Tucker Carlson, it’s no surprise that it comes with all these rationalizations, deflections, conflations (that’s the most important part, which you embraced) and lies about this non issue, this is what you come up with.

There is NO jurisdiction in the country that is teaching Critical Race Theory in the classroom. I would be surprised if these were a single textbook or curriculum under the post graduate level.

If you are under the impression that this was a spontaneous outburst by some Loudoun County parents, you are seriously mistaken.

The Critical Race Theory campaign was invented by a right wing operative, and was folded into a national campaign which is being run by many of the same people who were active in assembling the tea party crowd of 2009-10.

And they used the same tactics.

Propagandize through right wing media. With special emphasis now on social media, where your message won’t have to stand up to examination for accuracy.

Invest in a few websites for local “grass roots” groups, have all the literature and signs pre printed for them. Get them to assemble local crowds, and make sure the television cameras are there to record the orchestrated “grass roots” in action.

There is already plenty of evidence that this “movement” is a puppet master’s delight.

Just as it is already apparant that critical race theory will disappear into the vacuum of right wing trigger noise campaigns the day after the 2022 mid terms.

That’s what happened to the tea party. Teh party operatives and their consultants delivered Congress the the GOP. Thus, the tea party has served its purpose. The money dried up, and eventually ,so did the “movement”/

This is the same play. And it will end the same way.

And of course the trigger is the same.

it’s an outright appeal to white racism and resentement.

Just at the tea party was.

And it is easy to project onto any hint that any teacher might even hint that bad things could have ever happened to black people. (one only has to read your own post to see how that message works).

And the noise machine will trigger you and folks like you regularly this years.

And most of you will clap like trained seals.

It doesn’t matter that none of the white racists don’t actually know what critical race theory is. They don’t care. When you think in slogans, one that contains the words “critical” and “race” must be bad. No thinking or examination necessary.

You can’t support your misrepresentation of the response to this right wing campaign as “narrative”. Although you’ve constructed an elaborate fact free narrative of your own to dismiss it.

One which depends on your acceptance of the narrative you’ve decided to embrace.

Lmao.

First it's "not taught at all and doesn't exist"

Oh look, another right wing circle jerk!

No, critical race theory is not taugh in high schools or undergraduate programs. You can’t refute that, no matter how many trashy blogs you parrot.

No one said that critical race theory doesn’t exist. You made that up.

And telling the whole story of our history, warts and all, IS a “way to accurately teach history”.

But you keep ranting about this racist button push theme if you like.

The manufactured right wing campaign about CRT knocks any claim that the core value of trump/ No nothing American is white resentment and racism.
