Face it, if Trump behaved even slightly Presidential (he even said himself that would have been boring) and handled Covid like Trudeau did or just about any other leader, the economy wouldn't have crashed like it did and there may have been say 200k dead, instead of 800k to 900k under his watch. I think there's more like just over 1 million (in America) now but 20-25% of The Covid Deaths were when Trump was in office.
His reeleciton was pretty much on a Silver Platter since Americans don't like the change leaders in the POTUS position. Only 2 times in the last 50 years has a incumbent lost and both times, even though it wasn't as pronounced with Reagan/Carter and Anderson, a 3rd Party Candidate did enough damage to the Incumbent to lose. Trump didn't have that in 2020.
So, yea, he blew it. Biden of course won fair and square, but Trump, if he behaved and handled Covid even somewhat ok, could have had a second term.

Trump lost the popular vote to Biden by over 7 million votes and he lost to Clinton by over 3 million votes.

Trump might have won the 2020 election if he had handled Covid better, but it still would have been a very close election. It definitely wouldn't have been a "silver platter" win for him.

Yeah, I agree. It was an anyone but Trump election. That freaky base of his rampaging through the pandemic treating like a bioweapon didn't help him any either.

That is like saying if Jeffrey Dahmer wasn't a serial killer he would have been a great cook. So; if Trump wasn't a traitor, he still would have been a failed one term president because the guy is ignorant. All Republicans should be ashamed.

Trump didn't and doesn't want to be POTUS. He tried to steal 2020 because the position offers immunity (for all his crimes pre-presidency).

It's why he lied about Russia collusion.
Rudy attempted the fake electors.
He calls for violence all around the country.

I helped to fire him for COVID mismanagement (lost 2 family members, developed Long COVID and 2 friends have heart problems).
And, his behavior and betrayal of our lawmakers and Capitol cops on January 6, 2021, confirmed I made the right decision.

To this day, he continues to lie about a "rigged and stollen (sic) election."
He has no moral compass at all.
How many more have to get hurt, convicted and incarcerated before he stops stoking violence?

Why do people say ridiculous stuff like this?

I’d say you’re pretty much on the money. There’s been three times the incumbent president lost if you count Ford. But each incumbent was challenged in their primaries. Reagan challenged Ford in 1976, Ford lost to Carter. Ted Kennedy challenged Carter in 1976. Carter lost to Reagan. Pat Buchanan challenged G.H.W. Bush in 1992, Bush lost to Bill Clinton.

It was Trump’s obnoxious, rude, uncouth personality that caused him to lose. His childish antics like name calling and throwing of temper tantrums like some 4-year-old spoiled brat along with his 3rd grade schoolyard bullying tactics. Throw in his very unpresidential behavior, you had independents deserting him in droves. Remember Trump won independents back in 2016 46-42 over Hillary Clinton with 12% voting third party against both. In 2020 Trump lost independents to Biden 54-41 which is strange since they gave Trump high marks on the economy, 55%, on immigration, on crime etc. This leads me to conclude it was Trump’s personality that lost him the election. Look at who he lost to, an old, dour, uninspiring, lacking energy, gaff prone, totally lacking in charisma and devoid of personality candidate. You could call Biden a statue. Yet Biden acted like an adult, behaved like most independents thought a president should. Biden came across as the only grownup in the room.

Biden also stayed in his basement, he let Trump hog the spotlight. He let Trump be Trump which reminded voters, especially independents why they disliked Trump so much. Smart political strategy. I suppose one could classify 2020 as the adult winning over the 4-year-old spoiled brat.

I don't think Trump would have won the popular vote, but he could have won the electoral college if he hadn't been such an incompetent ass regarding covid.

In 2020, Trump lost the EC by only about 50,000 votes spread across AZ, GA, WI, NV, and that one congressional district in NE.

That's how dangerous the EC is. It always gives Republican presidential candidates a fighting chance, no matter how deranged and incompetent they are.

I should have made that more clear. Trump's campaign themselves knew they had no chance of winning the PV in 2020
