In a recent speech, Gov. Tim Walz likened the Trump administration to an authoritarian regime.

“Donald Trump’s modern-day Gestapo is scooping folks up off the streets. They’re in unmarked vans wearing masks being shipped off to foreign torture dungeons,” he said.

“No chance to mount a defense, not even a chance to kiss a loved one goodbye, just grabbed up by masked agents, shoved into those vans and disappeared,” the governor went on. “To be clear: There’s no way for us to know whether they were actually criminals or not, because they refused to give them a trial. We’re supposed to just take their word for it.”

Walz called on the new law graduates to live up to their pledge to uphold the law, saying they are “graduating into a genuine emergency” under Trump.

Some of the people trump renditioned to that hellhole in El Salvador were here LEGALLY.

Why isn't MAGA demanding trump get these people back home?

Perhaps but if you don't check the government, you might get checked yourself. Now you might like police states and government agencies that don't follow the constitution but it concerns some of us.

Jews rounded up by the Gestapo were sent to prisons outside the country without having a day in court. ICE, on the other hand, uh, waitaminute...

There's a better way, morally and effectively, to deal with the problem.

We don't need to turn into a police state.

I know the gestapo didn't cover their faces and dress in body armor. They wore street clothes to do their dirty work.

They smash out windows, snatch them out of vehicles…then ship them who knows where - including to torture prisons - with no due process.

Maybe they should stop snatching people off the street and sending them to a foreign prison without due process.

Especially since, you know, a bunch of those people are going to be found as innocent.

The question then becomes, in future years, if politicians have it in them to prosecute the people that sent humans to foreign prisons without due process.

most "shoved into vans" are already under deportation order. SCOTUS now wants habeus hearing (civil not criminal) -which is not a trial

The Tren de Aragua mess is a complete FUBAR by the courts. I can't even figure out what SCOTUS is trying to do here?

The high court action is the latest in a string of judicial setbacks for the Trump administration’s effort to speed deportations of people in the country illegally.

The high court case centers on the opportunity people must have to contest their removal from the United States — without determining whether Trump’s invocation of the law was appropriate.


“We recognize the significance of the Government’s national security interests as well as the necessity that such interests be pursued in a manner consistent with the Constitution,” the justices said in an unsigned opinion.


At least three federal judges have said Trump was improperly using the AEA to speed deportations of people the administration says are Venezuelan gang members. On Tuesday, a judge in Pennsylvania signed off on the use of the law.


The legal process for this issue is a patchwork one​


The court-by-court approach to deportations under the AEA flows from another Supreme Court order that took a case away from a judge in Washington, D.C., and ruled detainees seeking to challenge their deportations must do so where they are held.


In April, the justices said that people must be given “reasonable time” to file a challenge. On Friday, the court said 24 hours is not enough time but has not otherwise spelled out how long it meant. The administration has said 12 hours would be sufficient. U.S. District Judge Stephanie Haines ordered immigration officials to give people 21 days in her opinion, in which she otherwise said deportations could legally take place under the AEA.
 
“This is what the crumbling of rule of law looks like in real time. And it’s exactly what the founders of this nation feared: A tyrant, abusing power to persecute scapegoats and enemies,” Walz said in a speech that sparked applause and cheers from the graduates.

To the bolded, WHERE"S THE PROOF????? OH, that's right, there is NONE which is exactly why the trump Reich want's it done "in the dark". Gotcha!
