Noting that it's a temporary order that applies to the 5 people who filed the request. Hearing scheduled later to determine if it should be expanded.

It will expire in 14 days, pending additional review.

Yes, that is correct.

The Judge noted 14 days would be more than enough time for him to evaluate expanding the order.

(WSJ) Judge Blocks Trump’s Use of Seldom-Used Wartime Act for Deportations

[Just breaking - with WSJ the only print source at the moment]

Well that was quick! A matter of mere hours from Trump's announcement, to getting shutdown.
Do any of you know history? This act has been used three times in times of war BUT it has also been used after war. Both Truman and Wilson (Democrats) used this act. Truman used this act for six years after WWII. A part of this act when Clinton was President in the 1990s, the SCOTUS determined that the President of the US has the ability to determine which countries are enemies of the US. Therefore, the President of the U.S. can determine that gang members or other illegal immigrants are a danger to the US and deport them. This will be yet another example of liberal judges trying to stop Trump. While the lawfare continues, eventually, Trump will get to use this act. BTW, FDR used this act against Japanese American citizens and placed them in internment camps. Wasn't he a Democrat as well as Wilson and Truman?

The Alien Enemies Act of 1789 has only been used three times in US history. The War of 1812, World War 1 and after the attack of Pearl Harbor. Trump supporters still don't believe that Trump is a dictator. They're all idiots, and they're all a danger to our democracy.

Democrats from 100 years ago. I promise not to vote for them ever again!

Buh buh Biden.

So the "invasion" isn't over? MAGA is so confusing...

If Trump gets the Supreme Court to overturn a federal judge and grant him the power of the Alien Enemies Act, people will begin protesting violently, and then he'll go to the Supreme Court to grant him the powers of the Insurrection Act and bring in the military to fight everyday Americans trying to save democracy. That has been Michael Flynn's plan all along. I thought we would reach this threshold eventually, I just didn't think it would happen so fast.

His plan is to destroy our government and give himself and his billionaire friends our tax dollars and the wealth that even billionaires like Elon Musk dream of. This is exactly how it's done in fascist countries, this is how they get there. People will fight like hell against Trump's fascist and authoritarian desires.

Maga won't care. They hate immigrants..like to the point some would most likely shoot them. ( which we've seen some say)

As we both are now noting, this is just another case of rules for thee but not for me.

immigrants migrants (fixed it for you) and only those MILLIONS who flooded in thanks to Bidens abuse of parole and asylum

Yes, that is correct.

He'll have to evaluate whether to issue a more permanent order as well.

What are you implying in the bolded?

No it's not, that's just a stupid and lazy deflection to excuse Trump's abuse of power.

Yep. The judge apparently called the two planes back midair, when they were near to touchdown in Venezuela. Wild.

The authority for the secretary of state to intervene in a case like Khalil’s stems from the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952. A provision in the law allows the secretary of state to deem a non-citizen deportable if their presence or activities are believed to significantly harm U.S. foreign policy interests.
