How long has it been since you sat down and wrote a letter to someone, stuck it into an enveloped, put a stamp on the envelope and mailed it?

I don't remember. At least several decades.

I HAVE sent greeting cards where I have written stuff on it though (no more than a paragraph or so). Does that count?

I just wrote a bunch of thank you notes and mailed them this week.

And a birthday card.

A letter? Not in quite some time.

Day before yesterday, actually. I sent some forms and a letter explaining them to someone who needed to get registration for a motorcycle I once owned.
Before that- years uncounted. I can barely write cursive anymore.

Ha, me too. Even my signature is just a scribble.

Business letter? Not that long ago.

Personal letter? Forever.

I was 11. Little Allan was very popular with girls at that young age and when we moved to a different city my Mom suggested I write to the school girls back home.

None of them wrote back 😢

I can't read my own cursive.
Years 'n years ago I was having a problem learning to weld well enough to get a welding ticket. My hands were too clumsy to make the small, precise motions required so I bought a book and pens and paper and started to practice calligraphy. It worked! I not only got an all-position welding ticket, I learned to be pretty good in a couple styles of lettering.
Today, as you say, I can't read my own cursive. That letter I mentioned? I printed it, and it still was sloppy.

Oh same. My handwriting has gotten atrocious.

I wind up tossing so many Christmas cards between trying to write notes in them and just signing them. I started buying extra just for that reason. 😂

I was 17 years old, 47 years old. I have bought envelopes and stamps just in case, but I lost them before I ever touched one

Last year. I made a handshake deal with somebody to buy something. He gave it to me but I didn't have the cash on me. He said no big just send a check. We live in different states. When I got home I did a nice hand drawing on a blank thank you card, told him how much I appreciated the deal, and included the check. He said it was wonderful to receive that. Made his day.

There are still good people in this world.

Wrote a letter not that long ago. Posted it. Found out a week later it never got to its intended destination. texted the post office about that and got a reply that my complaint was been looked into. A few weeks later I sent another text and got the same reply back. A few weeks after that I got a text from the person who I sent the letter to saying that he finally got it. Next time I am just going to text the person.
