Jim "Wrong Way" Marshall died yesterday, June 3rd, 2025.

An excellent defensive player. Two time Pro Bowler and holds a number of records that still stand.

But he will always remembered for his one mistake, returning an opponent's fumble the wrong way for 66 yards, scoring a safety for the opponents.

R.I.P.

For me, it will always be for being a member of the Purple People Eaters, a defensive line as well known back then as any, except perhaps the Steelers. I still remember their numbers. #88 Alan Page, #77 Gary Larsen, #81 Carl Eller, and #70 Jim Marshall.

Wasn’t Joe Kapp the qb in those days?

First, it was Fran Tarkenton, then it was Joe Kapp, then Gary Cuozzo.

Kapp only played two seasons, but is remembered as being the quarterback in Super Bowl IV, losing to the Kansas City Chiefs in January 1970.

For some reason I thought he had already passed on years ago.

RIP Marshall.
