The number of times it's used is not the point. It's a common phrase.
Yes to the 1st
Of course not to the 2nd.
The number of times it's used is not the point.
What does the word "Spade" refer to in that phrase you used?
It is the Ace of Spades from a deck of cards. Calling a Spade a Spade generally means you are calling it like you see it in reality. I should not have to say this.
Trying to imply something racist from that comment is just to ignorant for words.
Do you usually watch the Super Bowl? I am just curious as to how many folks that are NFL fans and love the Super Bowl that are gonna boycott the Eagles games would also boycott if they made it to the Super Bowl.
You're the one who used it, not me. Just struck me that of all the idioms you could pick,...........I guess I'll just chalk it up to..........happenstance.
Call a spade a spade
Well first of all I did not use or pick anything. You are as usual mistaken. You should chalk it up to stupidity on your part as that would be more truthful.
You are so paranoid and stuck on "everyone is racist against black people" you insinuate black people are even racist against Obama if they don't tow his policy line. You see racist comments in comments that are not a never were racist. How ignorant and mentally disabled is that kind of thinking?
It would appear that I owe you an apology. In reading back through a few of your posts (admittedly to find ammunition to support my guess that you were bigotted) I read where you stated that you are a black man.
If this is true, I was way off base with my "Spade" complaint & offer my apology for "Shooting From The Hip" at a target I had not researched enough to accuse.
Do what you wish with my apology, but I extend it to you sincerely.
In my defense, there has been so much thinly veiled racism regarding opposition to Obama that perhaps your "Paranoid" accusation towards me isn't totally unfounded.
Thank you.
Please do not confuse bigotry or political posturing for racism. It weakens the weight of the word when it is real. Like conservatives constantly being called "Nazi's."
I use the term bigotry & racism almost interchangeably. What is the difference?
Bigotry is a stubborn and complete intolerance of any creed, belief, or opinion that differs from your own.
Racism on the other hand...
1. a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others.
2. a policy, system of government, etc., based upon or fostering such a doctrine; discrimination.
3. hatred or intolerance of another race or other races.
We all have our own bigotry's, this is not inherently racist although it can contribute to one's racism.
I accept your definitions but would say that I think most people use the terms interchangeably.
The number of times it's used is not the point.
What does the word "Spade" refer to in that phrase you used?
Yes...I always watch the Superbowl but wouldn't if the Eagles were in it this year. (not too much to worry about there anyway!)
