EARTH—Assuming the controversial president of the United States must be in possession of potentially damning information concerning his home country in order to keep them so completely under his control, the rest of the world wondered aloud Tuesday about exactly what Trump has on America that compels the nation to keep him in power. “Whoa, he must have some real bad dirt on the U.S. populace for them to just let him get away with so much unconscionable bullshit. You have to wonder what he knows,” said billions of world inhabitants outside of President Trump’s jurisdiction, further speculating that the only possible explanation for the continued deference of American elected officials, American media, and American citizens to an obviously corrupt and incompetent leader would be Trump’s possession of damaging information that could take down the entire country.

Aside from it being satire, I still find it remarkable that so many idiot leftists in this country are so hell bent on keeping the government monstrous, inefficient, and bloated with debt to the point that are grandchildren are going to be left carrying our burden. I also find it remarkable that so many know so little about the government...government agencies...what they even do...but mostly that they are so quick to defend the programs and the people get rich off of them.

The left doesn't want to keep inefficiency.

Quit with the lies.

DOGE is f-ing everything up. Lying, and creating massive inefficiency, not to mention all the laws being broken

There is a happy medium between giving an unvetted billionaire carte blanche to tear through the federal government and not doing anything.

Democrats would be thrilled with the happy medium - experienced, thoughtful people examining government spending and making suggestions to Congress about LEGAL changes.

That story is from 2018. Not sure if your response could even be considered tangentially related...

Yes and it is time tested.

Governments around the world grow and shrink according to the perceived needs of the time. You grow it by hiring both trained and untrained staff and training them up to speed....at a huge relative cost.

So, you should, economically, want to keep them. Thus you reduce the size of government through a mixture of natural selection and deliberate cutting.

To arbitrarily shunt a large group of workers is detrimental to the overall performance of the government and will, in time INCREASE costs through the constant need to train new employees

Time and again we have seen the 'new efficient' government slash and burn themselves into a precarious position. Not enough trained staff and now the voters are even more pissed.

Because Canada is more welfare state than the US we have been through this shit a few hundred times in history. "Saving money" always ends up costing more.

What's happening now is the private equity tactic. Cut expenses to the bone to artificially increase profit and then sell the company to an unsuspecting third party before the house of cards tumbles. Except in this case there will not be a third party.

If there is a goal here, it is to make Trump/Musk look good in the short term and leave the inevitable mess for someone else. I also think much of the work will be outsourced to Trump cronies. Someone's got to manage existing student loans.

That's the purpose of Musk's whole initiative.

I'm projecting that the new system will actually cost 20 to 30 per cent more than at present.

There are ways to do it. Musk’s crash and burn is not one of them.

Idiot leftists want the government to be bloated and inefficient to the same degree that idiot rightists want to destroy the US economy with a trade war.

Just because you don't trust the current administration to get the job done doesn't therefore mean you want the government to be broken. What people on the left don't understand is how people on the right could have been so badly fooled by Donald Trump's smug "just trust me" routine. Just because someone hates the same people as you do doesn't make them qualified to streamline the government. They are, in fact, making a royal mess of it.

I told my wife years ago it's probably a J Edgar Hoover like file on everyone in DC

I saw 'The Onion' and didnt bother reading the article...and my comments would have been as timely and appropriate then as now.

Indeed. It wasn't that hard to see the intent of the article...and knowing it is the onion, wasn't hard to know it wasn't serious. Therefore the response was appropriate, and I would bet pretty much everyone else knows it...considering to your post there was only 14 comments on the thread you started...and 3 of them are yours.

you DO know The Onion is a satire site...right?

Trump is a satire of himself—every single day…….

No joking aside. I think we have a death wish. White people have repressed their violent history so strongly, as its been pushed back on century after century and BLM sent them over the edge.

Elect a criminal, create enemies everywhere - white folks are willing to throw it all away.

Fair question. Honest answer...I have no idea if you knew what you were posting was satire. I DID...and responded appropriately...and for some reason that has you pushing out angry feral kittens from your vagina.

What is ridiculous about citing a satirical newspaper in an op in "on the lighter side"?

Please explain.
