The truth about these dysfunctional, downscale communities is that they deserve to die. Economically, they are negative assets. Morally, they are indefensible. Forget all your cheap theatrical Bruce Springsteen crap. Forget your sanctimony about struggling Rust Belt factory towns and your conspiracy theories about the wily Orientals stealing our jobs. Forget your goddamned gypsum, and, if he has a problem with that, forget Ed Burke, too. The white American underclass is in thrall to a vicious, selfish culture whose main products are misery and used heroin needles. Donald Trump’s speeches make them feel good. So does OxyContin. What they need isn’t analgesics, literal or political. They need real opportunity, which means that they need real change, which means that they need U-Haul.

How would that go over if we switched two little words, white for black and black for white, in all the sentences where they appear in the OP and OP article? Not that I disagree with you or the OP, because I don't disagree - see my sig for reference. I was just wondering how the opposite, race-wise, with all other factors being equal and unchanged, would be accepted or received?

I'm sure most of us already tie those negative behaviors to that other race. No? What's rare is a conservative publication calling out whites and their mooch addiction for a change.

Not really, not publically, and not in a conversation type way that leads to change - but that isn't the point of the thread, nor was it actually the point I was trying to make by bringing it up. I wanted to simply demonstrate how this type of truth telling can be sidelined by the naysayers and race industry hacks.

True. What's different for sure is not only a right leaning publication discussing this issue, but that the publication is The National Review.

Poor whites are really the one group who can be totally victimized with no likelihood of repercussion.
Look at the Great Depression, banks greedily gobbled up the land owned by poor whites, they were evicted and made homeless, some starved to death, and many reading this will have no clue what I'm talking about. They just aren't a people that the media gives a damn about.

Of course...but, the article drives home a good point. When it comes to entitlements and not pulling your weight, Whites should not be immune from criticism when finding blame for why America needs to be made great again. And too many whites want to ignore that.

Hell, a good chunk of our entitlement whites went all in to put a family perfectly described by the article in the White House back in 2008. The Palin family could be the poster child for our degraded, meth addled, disability seeking, entitlement loving white lower class

I saw very little truth in the article. French was defending an article by Williamson entitled "The Father-Fuhrer" and from the quotes French used it's clear Williamson stereotyped working class whites as lazy drug-addled dimwits who live on the dole and cheat on their wives and want a Nazi to save them. That's not hard truth that's a smear tactic designed to drive a wedge between higher education Trump supporters and Trump. This kind of generalized character assassination wouldn't be tolerated were it aimed at anyone other than blue collar whites.
