Just like food or booze the real sin with drugs is not usage but overusage. I have tried every drug known but only became addicted to one because I love it and that is marijuana. You can use coke, opiates,LSD,mushrooms, pills or meth once in a while and have a good time as long as you don't be a glutton and keep doing it all the time.

You can damage your health eating double whoppers all the time or eating doughnuts every meal but you don't hear the moral crusaders wanting to make those products illegal. The time for moral crusaders sticking their nose in our private lives has to come to an end. It did not work with prohibition on booze and it is not working with drugs.

You can also become addicted, and that is bad. Whether or not you become addicted may have a lot to do with your personal body chemistry. Heroin, for example, was invented in Switzerland ca. 1856 by some researchers on their way to something else. As was the custom at that time, they tried it on themselves, and not one of the researchers was addicted - something we now know is very rare. On the other hand, a former neighbor once told me of a childhood friend who had an allergic reaction and died halfway through her first beer - at age 25.

You can use heroin without becoming addicted. The same is not true with rock cocaine. You can become addicted with the first hit. This stuff does not matter because people are going to use anyway so why not be pragmatic and legalize. One person in ten who drinks will become a drunk.Should we make booze illegal because of that fact? No.

Unlikely, particularly if you are self-medicating -- which is the problem with most drugs/alcohol anyway...

Love the OP logic here = other things can be bad, so leave pot alone, especially as I am addicted to it.

Right. That works so well.
