Hey all,

So... I'm having a case of the winter blues, on top of being overseas. I'm used to living in this country since I've been here before, but everytime the winter season rolls around I'm hit with the dolldrums.

I exercise regularly, eat well, have a relatively active life... so what's the deal?

What do you all do when you are having a case of the good old SAD? (Ok, it's not that bad for me, but it still bites.)

Seriously? I reflect that life is a travail and that suffering and misery are to be expected. This is to say, that I'm not a happy person by nature and have learned to accept blues, sadness, depression and mourning all before my morning coffee (which is dark, and bitter.)

(You know, I don't get invited to many parties)

I can kind of relate. In East Tennessee, for the exeption of maybe 2 days, it has been overcast and/or raining! It really wreaks havoc on the mood. Maybe it's holiday letdown. At any rate, what I do is try to transplant some ray of sunshine somewhere. It can be the books I read or the music I listen to. I try to stay away from dark movies, the news ( since it tends to be negative). Try to get in a couple of good laughs, too. It does wonders for the spirit !!

Unless any of those things make you happy then I don't see how they help sadness.

Do something you enjoy! Me I enjoy vice, company, or entertainment (movies, video games, concerts, etc...)

SEX:mrgreen:

I love winter. Rainy days and chilly snowy days can be so much fun.

If you are at home, get a good book or movie and just snuggle up with your favorite meal handy and a warm body close. If it's snowing pretty good out go sledding and then get some hot chocolate. Those always seem to cheer me up on a cold winters day.

I'm the same way... I can't stand winter. I'm not half as active and lack energy often enough. My idea of winter sports is the gym and indoor tennis, LOL. I think I should take up skiing or skating. Perhaps that would help?

Man, I'm just a terrible Canadian. :3oops:

Since moving to western North Carolina, I am still "waiting" for it to snow, but no snow is coming. I kind of miss it. I don't miss shoveling the ****, but I kind of miss the nice blast of cool -10 degree weather in your face when you walk out the door.

I think we should swap our homes.

Try the pizzalcoolic parties. You need three things:
- friends
- pizzas
- wine

Happiness 100% guaranteed!

Yeah... having a body close would help, but I don't just hook up with people, so I'm not going to be going down that route anytime soon. Unless of course I happen to meet someone I want to be with during this crap ass winter :)

I'm going to SE Asia for a month or so in a few weeks and there will be sunny beaches there. Maybe that will help... actually yes, I think it will definitely help. :P But until then, I am dealing with dull gray and, to be honest, boredom. My studies are so extensive that when I'm not at school I'm usually reviewing the day's notes and analyzing case studies. My work is my passion but it's not my only one... and I feel kind of out of balance.

Friends, lovers, beer, pizza, movies, snuggling, it all sounds good. Even the harmonica, Rev... are those hard to play? :P

I hate winters too, and just be thankful that you don't have the blues yr round, b/c some ppl have a 24/7 chemical imbalance. Anyway, try some B-complex sublingual liquid. You can get it at Wlmt. You could also try taking some Omega-3's!. I'm counting down the days to summer.

The fact that my birthday is today takes the edge off. My friends are going to buy me yummy food :D
