It is always nice to read or see good news. Just a shame it so absent from so called news stations.
Repeated stress and vibration delaminates the composites. Basically just fatigue. How do the blades get broken in the first place? Flying pigs?
They simply wear out from the wind, and the aerosols in the wind. The tip speed can be incredible. O forget how fast, but easily over 150 MPH.How do the blades get broken in the first place? Flying pigs?
Booo. The story doesn't mention this, but one of the early things they tried was sending one of those blades to Harrison Ford, thinking he could run with it.
(Sorry.)
I don't think that's why they are being replaced, but yes. If the leading edges of blades were more resilient and lasted longer, that would most certainly become the leading cause.Repeated stress and vibration delaminates the composites. Basically just fatigue.
You wouldn't want to live downstream of any freeway, considering all the toxic carcinogens in vehicle exhausts. They simply wear out from the wind, and the aerosols in the wind. The tip speed can be incredible. O forget how fast, but easily over 150 MPH.

What is worse, is once it breaks past the sealant, now we have fiberglass aerosols that can harm people breathing it in.
You do not want to live downstream of a find farm.
Flying birsds rather than flying pigs. The left seems not care that they are killing endangered raptors.
They are generally damages by the erosion or aerosols in the air. I forget how fast the tips end up turning, but over 160 MPH comes to mind. I believe after they projected a life for the blades, they are now being replaced about three or four times more often than originally advertised. How do the blades get broken in the first place? Flying pigs?
I am sick and tires of people bringing in common birds into the discussion when it is the endangered raptors we are complaining about. You wouldn't want to live downstream of any freeway, considering all the toxic carcinogens in vehicle exhausts.

Infographic: What Is Killing U.S. Birds?
This chart shows the estimated range of annual human-caused bird deaths in the U.S., by source.www.statista.com
"sick & tires" Yeah, I bet you are.I am sick and tires of people bringing in common birds into the discussion when it is the endangered raptors we are complaining about.
Why is wrong with you guys? Why do you buy into the lying bloggers about what is what?
BILLINGS, Mont. — A wind energy company was sentenced to probation and ordered to pay more than $8 million in fines and restitution after at least 150 eagles were killed over the past decade at its wind farms in eight states, federal prosecutors said Wednesday.
I thought you lefties were the claimed champions for endangered species...
I don't like then because it is moronic to use them."sick & tires" Yeah, I bet you are.
Your rage at wind turbines has you jumping up & down like Gym Jordan.
This may be true, but it doesn't matter. These are being built over prime hunting ground, and the deaths are already too many, and will only grow more and the numbers of wind farms do.Anyhow,
I found this that should be done to reduce bird deaths, incuding raptors:
"When a bird comes close to the rotating blades, the three individual blades can 'merge' into a smear and birds may no longer perceive it an object to avoid. One black blade interrupts the pattern, making the blending of the blades into a single image less likely."
Only when it doesn't interfere with your agenda. You are no better than those hunters. At least we "lefties" are trying to help ALL species, while you "wrongies" only want to rage like you really care, while supporting the family that kills exotic animals for the "fun" of it
Are you pissed because you can't shoot the eagles?I don't like then because it is moronic to use them.

Why did you bring up the common bird argument up? Is this the first time for you to argue this aspect? Like clockwork, time and again, over the years, the same bullshit counterargument comes up. A raptor would catch a cat for food and tear it up, rather than being killed by a cat, car, etc. I doubt you see them in cities so windows are out of the question. No live prey for them. Raptors are part of your list.
"sick & tires" Yeah, I bet you are.

Anyhow,

Have you considered WHY South Australia would need 500% renewables? There are now a massive expansion of wind power and other forms of renewable energy all across the world.

Denmark plans $30 billion offshore wind island that could power 10 million homes
Denmark is moving forward with plans to build an artificial island tying in power from offshore wind farms of up to 10 gigawatts (GW) of capacity, more than enough to supply all households, as part of efforts to meet ambitious climate change targets.www.reuters.com

South Australia set sights on stunning new target of 500 pct renewables
South Australia predicts its emerging status as a local and global clean energy exporter could drive the state to more than 500 per cent renewables.reneweconomy.com.au
Liar. Stop slandering me.Lord of Planar are also ignoring the devasting effects of climate change as well as the massive pollution from fossil fuels.
I have several dozen times said we need to stop actual pollution.![]()
More than 90% of the world’s children breathe toxic air every day
Every day around 93% of the world’s children under the age of 15 years (1.8 billion children) breathe air that is so polluted it puts their health and development at serious risk. Tragically, many of them die: WHO estimates that in 2016, 600,000 children died from acute lower respiratory...www.who.int
Well then, if you truly do feel that we need to stop actual pollution, perhaps you might give Personal Maglev Transit a thought, since it would not only eliminate the toxic carcinogens from ICE & diesel vehicles (including the rubber in their tires which ends up in our waters), but also any problem you might have with the recycling of EV batteries. There is even a simple plan for paying for it all, if the politicians don't succeed in screwing it up.Liar. Stop slandering me.
I have several dozen times said we need to stop actual pollution.
That is too expensive to be practical today. Besides, gasoline ICE is not the rpoble pollution wise. Diesel is.Well then, if you truly do feel that we need to stop actual pollution, perhaps you might give Personal Maglev Transit a thought, since it would not only eliminate the toxic carcinogens from ICE & diesel vehicles (including the rubber in their tires which ends up in our waters), but also any problem you might have with the recycling of EV batteries.
At hat cost? Do you have a valid price tag? There is even a simple plan for paying for it all, if the politicians don't succeed in screwing it up.
Wave energy comes with its own environmental problems, like wind power killing raptors. As for the electricity needed to power it, there are other alternative energy solutions not even tried in earnest yet, such as Wave & Tidal Power.
I think you are focusing where the charlatians want you to focus. The only problem is getting people to take a little time to understand the whole concept of the system, & of course, navigating the politics to get it all done properly. But think of the JOBS that would come with it

Okay.Wind power is not cheap. The only compete in the electrical wholesale because of the huge subsidies they get. These subsidies cannot last forever. One day, we will see our electric prices creeping up to double or triple what we pay now.
Don't believe the lies. Wind power is not cheap. The only compete in the electrical wholesale because of the huge subsidies they get. These subsidies cannot last forever. One day, we will see our electric prices creeping up to double or triple what we pay now.
Okay.
Eliminate subsidies for wind and solar.
Eliminate subsidies for oil, coal, gas, and nuclear, too.
Play on a free-market level field and wind and solar will win.
My $25,000 solar array was built without tax credits or subsidies. Now I pay zero for electricity. In ten years the savings will have paid for the thing. No subsidies needed.
If we allow that actual write-offs remain like any other business, which are now called subsidies, but disallow direct handouts and what are called tax credits, wind is much more expensive that fossil fuels.Okay.

You are subsidized if you are using net metering. My $25,000 solar array was built without tax credits or subsidies. Now I pay zero for electricity. In ten years the savings will have paid for the thing. No subsidies needed.
The world is not the USA.That's exactly right. There are different subsidies in play and combined, most of them still go to fossil industry and not wind + solar in US and around the world:
"Fossil-fuel subsidies are one of the biggest financial barriers hampering the world’s shift to renewable energy sources. Each year, governments around the world pour around half a trillion dollars into artificially lowering the price of fossil fuels — more than triple what renewables receive. This is despite repeated pledges by politicians to end this kind of support, including statements from the G7 and G20 groups of nations."

The world is not the USA.
If you want to compare subsidies, with as meaningless as the definition has become. Break them all down by specific type of subsidy, else you are just wasting time and bandwidth.Which is why I provided links for both. But you are welcome to provide links to the opposite if you like.
