Why Won't Trump Send Feds To These Other Cities?

Your right! He should just ignore the problem like the previous administrations.

Or instead try to be a partisan idiot and use Chicago instead of, you know, actually looking at stats like Trump did. But the small hand Trump koolaid drinkers are too busy getting facials.

You start with #10? How does that make sense?

Maybe he's looking at the number of murders, and not the rate. Chicago did have the highest number of murders among major cities in 2016.

Yes, they did have the highest number. They also have the third highest population in the country.

Yes, they did have the highest number... they also have the third highest population in the country.

I offered it as a possibility. I surely don't know, other than Chicago murders seem to be in the news all the time. It would be like Trump to go after the city receiving the most media attention. Just by the numbers, that attention is justified, though.

Trump Threatens To 'Send In The Feds' Over Chicago's Violent Crime : The Two-Way : NPR

It makes sense because he clearly intends to govern by virtue of conservative memes and talk radio talking points. If you look at it through that lens, then Chicago makes perfect sense; it's been demonized as a cesspool of liberal lawlessness. Whether it actually is or not is beside the point. Trump doesn't care about reality or stats; he cares about symbolism. It's why he wants to build a wall. It's why he has to have the biggest inauguration crowd ever. It's how he got elected in the first place. Trump is and always has been about artifice. How is that not obvious?

You, sir, win this thread.

What do you think?

I think I was lucky to leave Baltimore alive. (The only city on this little list that I have visited).

Humm...looked like the last DoJ was having issues with chicago also. They seemed to believe [but without any action] that Chicago was a big problem.

yeah why not use the most notorious city to be an example of change. what an idiot......

It's funny watching dependent class millennials get all vulgar while being upset about vulgarity... .

Maybe this is why he also wants to pull NPR's funding - skewing the numbers to make it look like Chicago didn't have the most murders and attempted murders in the country?

This is another example of what Mark Twain said - "There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics."

I'm dependent on nobody, but thanks for showing your small hands support there.

Let me ask you a question. Is it possible for someone to not be a trump supporter but to objectively support some of his initiatives, or is it "All or nothing" for you and your ilk? (sorta rhetorical).

You seem angry.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. Once an enforcement formula is developed, not to mention developing a careful "help/no help" standard, then more cities should be included. The national guard does not have the same police and investigative powers civilian police do, but there are circumstances where they can be granted.

It's a political minefield, and one can only hope blacks are as much in fear of crime as the talking heads say they are. Crime control at Chicago levels can't be done without the cooperation of local citizens.
