Public television was established by Congress in 1967 as a public service same as public parks and public museums. It provides valuable services like emergency alerts and support for rural areas with limited internet access and local news. Public television essentially fosters informed citizens.
Not to mention the arch and entertainment it provides.

Since the 80’s, conservatives have pretended that if we cut NPR, PBS and any other funding for the arts that all of our budget woes will be solved.
