Donald burned bridges with every ally and now there's no one to help him gang up on China.

CNN —
Does America want its friends back?

After three months of insulting, tariffing and even threatening to annex some of its best allies, the Trump administration suddenly needs some help.

Also maybe the following wasn't such a good idea...

On the first day of his first term in 2017, Trump withdrew from the Trans-Pacific Partnership, a group of 12 nations including allies like Mexico, Canada, Japan, and Australia, as well as Japan that did not include China. The president also shut down a Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership that would have linked the world’s two largest markets.

Speaking only from the perspective of a Canadian we should be building bridges to China since our trading relationship with the US is over.

The US can sort its own problems out. They made their bed.

That part about "scrambling for allies" could be a tad precarious, because I am not so sure anyone is sure who he views as an ally. Well, as an "ally" for any length of time.

Anyone dumb enough to side with him.

Those are getting a little thin on the ground right now.

I am sure life will go on.

Trump played his cards exactly right. Everyone now knows it's just Trump against China. Countries are knocking on Trumps door ready to renegotiate tariffs. They're not knocking on China's door for anything because they know China's going to collapse without our endless supply of dollars to prop up their currency.

I am sure Trump is a terrible president who has harmed the US standing int the world which will not make America great and doesn’t put America first. But who cares because life will go on. Life went on under Biden but the righties cried about the destruction of America and now we have an emergency.

Trump had no cards to play and his bluff was called and he folded. China will not back down.

LOL!
You think Canada is going to be treated well by China?.... You obviously do not know what's going on!
The US can sort its own problems out. They made their bed.
That's EXACTLY what Trump is doing !

This is the thought process of an old con artist puke of a man suffering from dementia and severe mental illness....no surprise here. He's the Emperor with no clothes, and no one has the balls to tell him that. Canada has every right to shun him, as does the rest of the world. NO hard feelings from sane rational Americans. When his loyal followers really suffer, we'll see where their allegiances lie...CAN'T WAIT!

It's this sort of uninformed arrogance that will kill the US. Chinas trade surplus with the US makes up just 1.6% of their GDP. Maybe a third of one years growth for them. So by the time China rearranges it's trade to completely decouple from the US, and assuming the new trade they negotiate is fully balanced, the damage to the Chinese economy is about 4 months growth, maybe only 3 months.

So yes, the transition will be very painful for them, but a few years later they will have completely moved on from the US and no one will even notice. And after those few years, the US will have zero leverage left over China other than throwing nukes. As for the currencies, it's the US facing a potential currency disaster due to Trumps decision to recklessly drive the US into a recession with an already over valued $. For China, a collapsing Yuan is a great thing because they are an export dominated nation. So for them the lower currency means more exports and more foreign funds flowing into China. For the US, a collapsing currency means lots of inflation and unhappy consumers because we are a consumer and import dominated nation.

China will for sure have some pain from Trumps tariffs, and it might be nasty for a while, but the end game probably works out just fine for them. How well it works for us is more questionable.

So tell us exactly what countries are "knocking" on our door against China....NONE ARE. China will never collapse, and your pathetic trumpdump has alienated the whole world. In 2025, China's population is estimated to be significantly larger than the United States' population, with China having an estimated 1,416,096,094 people compared to the US's 347,275,807. This means China's population is roughly 4.1 times larger than the United States'. China will eat us alive given the opportunity and anyone who disputes that is a complete fool.

What CNN doesn't seem to realize...or doesn't WANT to realize...is that the US doesn't need the rest of the world's help in order to bring China to its knees.

Without the ability to sell to US consumers, China will fold, economically. They need someone to buy the stuff their factories make. There isn't enough demand in the entire world to compensate them for the sales they lose in the US market.

Sure. It would be nice if we can get other countries to work with us against China, but we don't need them. The plain and simple fact is this: Without the US market, China folds.

When a cheap Chinese men's shirt suddenly goes from costing $20 to costing $220, nobody in the US is going to buy that shirt. They'll buy an American made shirt that costs $100...or they won't buy a shirt. What Bissent is talking about is that it'll be nice if we can find other countries to make those cheap shirts and sell them for $20...countries that aren't trying to rip us off like China has been doing for decades. But the fact is this: If no country makes and sells us those cheap shirts, that won't stop the US from bringing China to its knees.

Their exports to the US are only about 3% of their gdp.

China will have slow growth for a bit but will be fine after a couple of years.

Are you sure about that? I don't think your post is going to age well.

Within 6 months or less. When their inventory starts backing up they will have no choice but to negotiate. You should stop listening to those Liberal propaganda machines.

So, come Halloween you will be able to see how right you were, yes?

You sound nervous. Hey my stocks have gone down too. Don't worry, it's going to be OK. Don't listen to all the Liberal nonsense. They want to cause panic. Don't play into it.

Don't know.

When they finally realize that their counter tariffs aren't working? When they've devalued their currency to the point of making it worthless...even to the Chinese people? When their factories all shut down and their people have no way to make enough money to buy food?

Don't know when, but it WILL happen.

While Trump is in office?

Or more like "just some day in the next 100 years"?

Spoken like someone who believes Trump's lies.

Never trust a liar.

Good luck!

Lol, MAGA is delusional. "China has been around for 5000 years, we don't care."

You realise that Trump walked back his tariffs against everyone else when Chinese, Japanese and South Korean economic ministers met this week to discuss response to US tariffs? Then, to add to that, the EU also talked abut the action it could take.

All Trump is doing is getting different countries to talk to each other and cut the US out.
