Why is there such a dislike for Obama

why do people after all that has happened like Barack Obama. His combination of personality traits, he is simultaneously full of himself but thin-skinned, loves to dish it out but can’t take it. He makes him the sort of person that, after a few minutes of polite chatter at a cocktail party, most people invent an excuse to get away from.

Obama has since gone from mean to worse, amping up his sarcastic digs at his opponents (and non-opponents) and hitting them with half-truths and exaggerations. He has also trampled the majority of his campaign promises especially his promise to unify the nation and run one of the most secretive administrations in the history of the presidency.

I imagine the answer is loyalty to party or liberal principles. But for others, I suspect the reason runs deeper. Their support for Obama derives not only from their steadfast allegiance to the liberal brand that he embodies but from their fear and loathing (and contempt) for the other side.

Because by and large, Americans dont like politicians who promise the moon, and deliver a ping pong ball.

He over promised, and under delivered. In addition, many people realize that Obama simply isn't honest about "who" he is politically. Hardly anyone understands Obama when he says, "we are days away from FUNDAMENTALLY TRANSFORMING the United States of America".

To understand that philosophy, you have to read him, study him, and apply his own comments to other philosophies. It's not a stretch, and it's not an invention. His life isn't a coincidence. HIs books weren't coincidences. His mentors weren't coincidental. He didn't choose Jeremiah Wright's church by coincidence. He didn't have a fund raiser at Bill Ayer's home by coincidence. He didn't appoint Van Jones to his administration by coincidence.

There are way too many "coincidences" in Obama's life for them to be truly coincidental. The narrative that emerges explains "who" Obama is, and how he's gone to great lengths hiding precisely "who" he is. He isn't a "liberal", he's a Progressive Marxist. That's why I dislike him, and I'll go out on a limb and say that's why many well-informed Americans don't like him. The left calls you crazy if you've studied Obama's history, along with the history of Progressivism and Marxist movements in America, particularly during the 1960s. They think we're crazy, but they are so uneducated about those movements and philosophies that it's impossible to discuss it with them.

They are WILLFULLY ignorant, which is inexcusable, because they've been told about this stuff for 4 years now, but they have refused to do their own research and reading. In short, leftists are lazy when it comes to studying their own philosophies, the history of their movements, and the people behind the scenes that have inspired Progressive Ideology.

I dislike him as a person because I find him condescending; I politically dislike him more for those healthcare mandates than you could ever imagine. If those were gone, I'd have much less problem with Obamacare or Obama.

This is purely your opinion and not that of the majority of the people. His likability is actually very high unlike Romney who has a very low likability. And by the way your lean as undisclosed is very transparent given this post.

Your thread assumes an unbiased tone, but then you show your inability to be unbiased. Why should anyone post here. You've already made up your mind and just want suppport for your TP opinions.

He seems to use the word "I" a lot and people don't generally like to listen to people talk about themselves. He seems nice enough as a person but he doesn't ever seem to interact with people on a social level. Politics and diplomacy depend on getting to know other person--it helps promote a environment for compromise.

I am definitely NOT unbiased. My lean is liberal. But getting back to your post. Obama is more popular than Romney a proven fact.

There are several reasons.

1) There is policy. Yes there are actually some people who dislike him based purely on policy.
2) Race. Yes there are some people who dislike him because he is black.
3) Religion. Yes there are some people who think he is a Muslim and they hate Muslims. One could also claim that this is a fall guy for point 2.
4) He has a (D) behind his name, and for some people that is enough to dislike him.
5) Likeability.. some dont like him because of his "attitude". However one could claim it is nothing but a fall guy for point 2.

Now the real question is how many are in each of the 5 groups. Sadly I suspect that the ones in group 1 are in the minority, because if you actually look at the policies of the two parties.. they are not that much different.

Romney's plan in Mass. had mandates too. Induvidual HC mandates are a Republican idea. Democarats prefered an employer mandate. How would you suggest we get rid of pre-existing conditions without requiring insuarance?

The short answer is that there isn't "such a dislike" for Obama. Slightly more than half the people have a favorable opinion of him. In contrast, more people have an unfavorable than favorable opinion of Romney.

Just require insurance companies to cover pre-existing conditions without requiring people to buy health insurance. I think it is a very dangerous precedent on principle to compel people to contract with private companies. I wouldn't have cared if we had a national single-payer system where everybody has to participate because the government would run it, not CEO's. It is this forcing people to consume non-public goods and services that scare me.

Seems pretty obvious that a certain percentage of the country dislike him for that reason. But I wouldn't say it's a very high percentage. If I had to guess I'd say that his being black knocks a point or two off his favorability rating.

As stated too many times to count, single state solutions work for single states.

You could easily pay for removing denial of pre-existing conditions with allowing for insurance plan adjustments based on risk and disallowing coverage requirements for normal, preventative care visits.

The polls do not give you a "Like some things and not others" option now do they?

Obama is despised.. I live in NJ.. I have never seen a politian more disliked..

I think it actually improves his favorability rating more than knocking it down... I've heard hundreds of people saying how wonderful it would be to have a black person be president.

You got it backwards.. if he wasnt "black" there would be nothing to like about him,.. he had that "im a minority" likablity.. so your premise is backwards.. if he was white he'd have been impeached by now..

I think that was true in '08. Now that he's been in office for going on four years I think that novelty has worn off.
