Unfortunately in the country we have a lot of young fools that got brain washed by commie professors. They have been brainwashed into thinking socialism works. But the truth is, it never has, and never will.

These young fools need to listen to people that have ESCAPED communist/socialist countries. To a one they warn all of us here in the US not to buy into the nonsense of socialism. EVERYONE need to listen to these people that have lived under socialism, and listen to their warning.

You personally love socialism

Well, to be fair, they often see social democracies like those in western Europe doing rather well. People able to function as good capitalists while not worrying that one illness will crater them into bankruptcy, that sort of thing.

Sure, there are excesses and Soviet style communism is a failed ideology. But social democracies are actually quite pleasant and functional. There's a mid point between unfettered capitalism which results in poverty in the midst of the wealthiest nation on earth and Stalinist Soviet Dictatorships.

Talk to people from Finland, Norway, and many other nations where healthcare is guaranteed, where life is quite good but not as "cut-throat" as we enjoy here in the US.

Or maybe they know there are plenty of old fools who yell about socialism while collecting their social security and socialized Medicare and then just laugh at the hypocrisy.

And in total they pay upwards of 60% of their income in taxes, EVERY YEAR!!!!

Remember our ancestor fought a war for our freedom over a 5% tax on tea.

And that's bad why?

Personally I think of taxes as the price you pay for a society you want to live in.

My wife and I don't have kids but we still GLADLY pay property taxes that go to support local schools because we want an educated populace.

And that they received no REPRESENTATION for that 5% tax.. Did they not teach that part at your school?

No, they don’t “need to”.

Ignoring frantic right wing nuts who see “commies” everywhere would be a good idea though.

Social democracy is not socialism.

Sure, there are excesses and Soviet style communism is a failed ideology.

And yet we have democratic socialists like Bernie, AOC, and others in the federal government. Tell me, do you support the idea of democratic socialism?

democratic socialism.webp

But social democracies are actually quite pleasant and functional.

If by "pleasant" you mean "poor", then you are correct:

There's a mid point between unfettered capitalism which results in poverty

As uncle Milty used to point out, living standards in the US and Europe rose the fastest when capitalism and markets were "unfettered".

If by "pleasant" you mean "poor", then you are correct:

Interesting. I spent a lot of time working in Finland and Belgium with companies as part of my job and they didn't seem particularly poor. In fact one guy I worked with a lot in Finland had a cabin on the Baltic. I don't have a cabin.

They might not have had the latest laptop but then I no longer do either.

I DO know that my coworkers in Europe didn't live in abject terror of losing their ability to get healthcare if their job got axed.

My wife and I don't have kids but we still GLADLY pay property taxes that go to support local schools because we want an educated populace.
So you think some gov B'crat knows how better than you what your money should be spent on?

You don't know shit, so stop making threads claiming you do.

The point remains, listen to people that actually lived under socialism. DO NOT listen to the wrong headed fools such a professors and their siren son of lolly pops and unicorns. They lie.

No, I think societies are made up of large numbers of people and we all have common goals which we all kick in and pay for.

Unlike the ultrawealthy I don't enjoy any free lunches.

Does that mean we should not listen to those 65 and older here in the US since they live under socialism? Shouldn't this crowd be demanding to be freed from the burdens of social security and their socialized medicine?

SS is a personal account people paid into. It is not socialism since everyone DOES NOT get back the same amount of money.

Complete nonsense... It is NOT a personal account at all... I noticed you avoided the biggest socialism, Medicare... Why?

On the contrary, one of reasons socialism works so poorly is because we all have different goals and different opinions regarding how to achieve them.

which we all kick in and pay for.

You mean forced to pay for under the threat of violence.

Oh no! A ZAP/NAP poster! Yay!

It must be such a BURDEN to be part of society. Thankfully you can still enjoy the roads and the clean water and electricity. You're welcome!
