Why do you think Trump chose Vance?

I want to know why you think Trump chose Vance. MY opinion is Trump and his people thought they had the election in the bag and Trump wanted a real yes man to do Trump's dirty work. Well, what do you think?
I agree. But will add that you can always trust Trump to double down. Vance was the perfect double down choice. Even if Trump thought he had the election in the bag, Vance represented an enormous risk as he is more of a loose canon than even Trump himself. That did not stop Trump.

I think Trump picked him to remove him from the Senate. One less bought and paid for GOP Elite in that chamber. Plus, Trump can keep him on a short leash while Vance is VP. If Vance even LOOKS at Trump crosseyed, Vance will be given a job supervising the Postmaster in Bum****, Egypt.

Apart from none of that making much sense, is that the kind of decision making criteria you think a potential president should be making as to the person who might become 2nd in line to the most powerful job in the world?

You basically admit Trump's worst flaws as a leader of people, and make it seem like it's a positive.

Ego....plain and simple. I'm betting a lot of Republicans here are upset with his choice. They just don't have the courage to admit it. Criticism of Trump seems to be verbotten.

Yes 2016 Vance did call Trump “Hitler. So has Haley, Biden, Schumer, Republicans bla bla…
Vance served for our country. Family life like others. Put his in writing and a movie.

If it gets to the point where Vance is President, then the country if ****ed anyway.

I've admitted no such thing.

Whatever the reason, it was transactional. I've read Jr. and Thiel were involved.

But yes, I agree with your premise. Trump wanted an attack dog, but all he got was a chihuahua who's scared of cats. And their ladies.
This, Thiel has come around to supporting Trump.
Both Blake Masters and Vance were employees at Thiel’s Mithril business.

And Junior and Carlson were advocates for Vance.

So, are you saying Trump couldn't find anyone in either party who hadn't called him Hitler? That should tell you something. Or are you saying there are people who hadn't called Trump Hitler, but Trump chose Vance anyway? That should also tell you something.

He wanted someone relatively young (as far as presidents go) and someone who would do whatever he says. Which, to be fair, the latter is pretty easy to find

I take it you too think he's a bad pick.

Trump didn't even know this guy's name two years ago, I can't imagine he's the "best person for the job" from the entire Republican Party membership.

Although after what happened with Trump's previous VP, I doubt there were as many applicants this time around. Who, other than people devising a way to remove Trump from office, would even contemplate taking the position?

1. Yes man - will do what Pence would not next time around.

2. Money - tech money Vance brought with him

3. SCOTUS influence via Vance's wife

He got that part correct!

I don't think Trump has made a single decision in the past year that looked beyond his legal problems of the day and winning this election by any means possible. Trump/MAGA is clearly plotting something in the event he loses and wanted to make sure whoever was with him wasn't going to wuss out this time the way Mike Pence did. Granted, this time, he has no actual true executive power to seize control of the apparatus of government, but he has the power of his cult and he has attracted people who are willing to enable usurpation.
