Why calling black people 'niggers' is not racist.

I played a German wedding in Greenfield, just north of Milwaukee once. Holy crap, was that one ever fun.

The derivation is probably from the Latin word, niger, which means black. Many slaves were imported from Nigeria and surrounding areas.

They were very likely originally called "Nigers." But people misspell and misprounounce words all the time, and so the "N" word was born.

Is it racist? I would say yes. But then look at the lyrics of many songs by black artists. Guess what word you find repeated over and over.

In addition, many blacks consider "Negro" and "Colored" racist as well.
