Who won tonight's Republican Debate?

One thing I'd also add, and this came from almost all candidates, was that when under an amount of pressure they would direct the conversation to how things are Obama's/Hilary's faults. That might get you some cheers and pats on the back in a republican debate, but if one of them does become POTUS, using that isn't going to work as a get out of jail free card against foreign heads of state.

If there weren't disagreements between the candidates then it wouldn't have been called a debate. I think that both handled themselves fairly well and showed that they were capable of defending their positions in the face of disagreement, which is a quality that a POTUS needs. I don't think that Trump displayed that quality today at all (or really, in the past).

What does seem to be the case is that there's no clear consensus on here, or in the media, on the winners and losers in this one.

I would agree with you IF they had actually handled themselves well and defended their positions. They didn't do that. They were too busy attacking the other without supporting their own positions which is why I said that to me...they came across like they weren't confident in their own positions. To me...it came across more bickering than debating...almost in a Monty Python sorta way.

This is why I say Trump was the winner. All Trump had to do was not implode. He continues to avoid the big gaffes people expect of him. This is only going to strengthen his base supporters...and I have to say....the tit for tat Rubio/Cruz bickering might turn off some prospective voters and turn them over to Trump...especially if they are tired of that type of political game playing.

Fair enough on the Rubio/Cruz situation, guess we just agree to disagree.

Re: Trump, honestly I thought all his rubbish about shutting down the internet and infiltrating ISIS internet was a gaffe and would have been damaging to any other candidate. But I guess for Trump it doesn't count as one because his base is just so fricking dumb.

Christie wants a no fly zone! That's war with Russia. The UN declined to deliver an authorization for the use of force in Syria, as such with the exception of Russia who has been invited in, all participants in the war against Assad are belligerents.

Bush and Rubio also support the no fly zone, and Fiorina would go to war with anything that moves.

The green papers are up but I can't post the link from my phone .

To me, it was Rand Paul, by virtue of the fact that he refuses to be cowed by the terrorists into giving up our liberties. Once we do that, he says, the terrorists have won. He is right.

What say you?

Hillary and Bernie

He said he would enforce a No-Fly Zone, which is something that should have been put in place years ago when the Syrian war began.

I do not want to see another War, especially one with Russia. That's World War 3. If you are advocating a NFZ in Syria then, I would assume, are you advocating the US to shoot down Russian planes if they enter the NFZ correct?

Christie, Fiorina, Rubio and Jeb Bush are neoconservatives war mongerers.

I dont even know anymore. This is a ****ing joke.

Maybe Chris Christie can ask King Hussein when he is standing across from him, maybe he can (as well as change his mind) tell us who is the biggest joke among the republicans ;)

There is danger in thinking it's only a joke.

We have a lot of people in the US who are disgruntled and they're making noise. Human nature is an odd thing. When people feel pushed and their concerns go unheard, shamed or belittled, they take it for a while but when someone comes along with a bandwagon - they jump on.

From where you sit - you see their concern as silly, fearful, superstitious and bigoted. Perhaps it is - but make no mistake that their concerns are real, they are palpable and the bandwagon is rolling.

I don't think our current Administration meant to alienate these citizens, but it did and now we have a growing problem. The answer is not "more of the same." The answer is to recognize and address their very real concerns and implement policies that make them feel included in the solution.

We ignore these people who "cling to their guns and bibles" at our own risk.

.

There is every reason to believe that the effect of a no-fly zone in Syria would have the same disastrous results it had in Libya. The same warring factions are there, just waiting to topple Assad, rape him with a bayonet as was done to Gaddafi, and then fight amongst each other until the entire nation descends into terrorist anarchy.

Libya is a cesspool and a breeding ground for terrorists - we don't need to create yet another place for them to thrive.
