While Hollande fiddles, Sunday is election day for Parisians.
Both look qualified to me.
Might be nice to have someone on the 'Center-Right' for some contrast.
Tho Kosciusko-Morizet is admirably/cooperatively Green and hardly Right wing.
Hidalgo, socialist, is favored.

On Left (or on top with small screen), above and in the race, Anne Hidalgo 54. : On the Right; Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet 40

Anne Hidalgo

As deputy to incumbent Socialist mayor Bertrand Delanoë, Anne Hidalgo is the current favorite to win the title "Madame Mayor" for the first time.

Spanish-born Hidalgo and her family relocated to France when she was just two years old. By 14, she was granted French citizenship and has since embraced her new homeland.

With a law diploma under her belt, Hidalgo joined the International Labour Organisation in Geneva in 1995 working on gender equality projects. Just two years later she landed her first significant political role at France's ministry of labor.

With a wealth of political experience, Hidalgo has cast herself as Delanoë's stable successor serving as his right-hand woman in leading Paris over the past decade. During her election campaign, she has promised to boost social housing, build rooftops gardens and establish more daycare facilities to help working parents.
Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet

Former Sarkozy protégé Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet is the French right's brightest hope to reclaim Paris after 13 years of Socialist rule.

A graduate of École Polytechnique and the Collège des Ingénieurs, she is one of the few female politicians who served in the French Navy.

After serving in the military, Kosciusko-Morizet opted for a scientific career by becoming an environmental expert. In the early 2000s, she joined the right-wing UMP party and was appointed a state secretary responsible for the environment, and later, in 2010, minister for ecology.

But it was her multi-party sustainable development initiative, the Grenelle Environment, which catapulted her to France's higher political ranks. Persuading politicians, NGOs, unions, and industry to start a nationwide green revolution, she has continued her environmental push during her mayoral campaign. Her eco-friendly proposals have included implementing large pedestrian zones, new transport routes, and investment in green technology.

Hollande's Socialists taking a pounding in today's and last week's elections.

France voted on Sunday in the crucial second round of the local elections. Follow our Live updates to find out just how well Marine Le Pen's National Front has done, how badly it's gone for the Socialists and who will be the first female mayor of Paris.

Key points:

National Front take at least seven towns, including of Beziers and Frejus, initial results show.
François Hollande likely to reshuffle his government after poor showing
Socialist Party candidate Anne Hidalgo predicted to become first female mayor of Paris

20:58 - Polls say Hidalgo has picked up 55.5% of the vote in Paris, compared to 42% for NKM. Need to stress these are based on poll results, but that's enough for some Socialist Party supporters in Paris, who are already celebrating.

20:55 - Initial results say Anne Hidalgo will be elected mayor of Paris, according to BFM TV. That's history in the making there as Hidalgo will become the first woman in charge of the City of Light, if confirmed.

20:54 - So it looks like the FN have taken 7 towns in France, according to reports.
[........]
20:13 - Government spokesperson Najat Vallaud-Belkacem says: "These are bad results for the Left. Disappointing."
That's probably putting it lightly.

20:07 - As expected exit polls suggest heavy losses for President François Hollande 's Socialist party.

20:07 - Big result if this is confirmed. Exit polls suggest the Socialists have at least held onto Avignon. The National Front had threatened to take the historic town.
[........]
19:50 - The National Front are set to acheive historic results tonight for local elections tonight. Find out why the French are voting for the anti-EU, anti-immigration party.

Either is fine.
But...

Whichever party wins Paris may just as well win the country in the next elections since France is very Paris-centric. And the socialists who are now in power are a total mess, and I wouldn't want the FN to win 2 years from now... so politically, in the long term, neither are good. But as qualifications go, I don't see a problem. there are no scandals behind them.
