Why would I pay more when my neighbor benefits equally? If my neighbor and I both make 100k, but I voluntarily choose to pay higher taxes to improve the roads he still gets to drive on them. If the benefit to us both is equal then the expense should be as well should it not? Then someone needs to tell them there is a way to willingly pay more to the government than the amount owed.
The founders of this country had such a system of voluntary taxes in the original Articles of Confederation. But then they changed it in the Cinstitution we have today. Do you know why? Then someone needs to tell them there is a way to willingly pay more to the government than the amount owed. There is also no obligation to claim any deductions on your taxes - which would also increase the amount due. So, this just doesn't "add up" so to speak...
Red states leech off the economies of California and NY and then turn around and decry “socialism” lol

Yes. It wasn’t working.I do
Do you?
Yes. It wasn’t working.
Instinctively most people might tend to think that the people who are constantly trying to cut taxes would be the ones who are stuck paying the majority of them, but is that actually true? Is it even remotely true?
The majority of Millionaires and Billionaires when polled consistently say that they should be paying higher taxes. That indicates that the majority of millionaires and billionaires likely lean more Liberal. Certainly, we know that some of the wealthiest people in the country are very liberal. Bezos, Gates, Buffet, Musk all have indicated that they have voted for and supported Democratic candidates in the past.
Roughly 70% of the GDP generated in the United States in the last 5 years was generated in counties that voted for Joe Biden. This is despite the fact that only about 16% of all U.S. Counties voted for Biden. That seems to indicate that these liberal cities are overwhelmingly populated by liberals and they are the ones making all that money. If you're a college-educated liberal living in New York, Chicago, D.C., Seattle, San Fran, L.A., the Twin Cities you're almost certainly making north of $65k per year. If your spouse is making roughly the same or better you're easily in the top 20% of household income.
I can tell you that I alone will pay roughly 6 times more in income tax over the course of my lifetime than both my small-town Republican parents combined ever did. Yet for some reason, they're the ones trying to prevent us, liberals, from paying higher taxes.
Why is it so hard to convince Republicans to just let us Liberals pay taxes so we're not in so much debt as a country?
One theory I have is that even though Trump's supporters don't make anywhere near as much money as most liberals their jobs suck a lot worse. My wife and I for example are college-educated liberals who work office jobs. Our jobs require more analytical skills and problem-solving skills and as a result, pay significant money because we generate significantly more and we're harder to find, but we also get additional benefits like better vacation, better hours, ability to work from home...
The ease with which we make significant money makes us less angry when that income gets taxed. Whereas the more conservative people I know tend to be stuck doing more back-breaking manual labor. They have shitty hours, shitty working conditions, with little vacation. The result is that even though they pay very little in tax the small amount of money taken out hurts them more not only because they make less but because they know how shitty the work they had to do was to get it.
Yes- it wasn’t working. Honest. So you really don't know do you?

“However, the central government lacked the ability to levy taxes and regulate commerce, issues that led to the Constitutional Convention in 1787 for the creation of new federal laws under The United States Constitution.”

OK. So what’s the problem? Is it that I misspelled it? It’s easy to do on a phone key pad.The founders of this country had such a system of voluntary taxes in the original Articles of Confederation. But then they changed it in the Cinstitution we have today.
You said this

This is not a good argument. One person paying more will never fix structural foundation problems. Then someone needs to tell them there is a way to willingly pay more to the government than the amount owed. The only minority some seem to care about. The RICH do(A minority)
Yes I was. You are being very cryptic. Tell us what’s on your mind. Why do you think they got rid of the Articles of Confederation? It look like you were discussing taxes
If you volunteered to pay more taxes for road improvement, you'd be sad to know that your contribution was actually moved and allocated to something else. Why would I pay more when my neighbor benefits equally? If my neighbor and I both make 100k, but I voluntarily choose to pay higher taxes to improve the roads he still gets to drive on them. If the benefit to us both is equal then the expense should be as well should it not?
If all taxes were voluntary almost nobody would pay them and our country would fall apart.
Actually the top 50% pay about 97% of all federal income tax and the bottom 50% pay about 3%. That is according to the US Treasury department latest figures.Technically the rich pay the larger portion of the total. They earn or hold 90% of the wealth and pay 70% of the taxes. The rest own 10% and pay 30%. That tells us the poor(er) pay a larger share of their income. That's the math. It's not the rich getting squeezed.

I really hate it when cons limit taxation to federal taxes. Everyone* pays a combo of city/county/state and federal taxes, and from the perspective of total income, everyone essentially pays a share equal to their share of income.Actually the top 50% pay about 97% of all federal income tax and the bottom 50% pay about 3%. That is according to the US Treasury department latest figures.
If politicians want more tax revenue cut the loop holes.
that's stupid. Red states have lots of veterans and retireesRed states leech off the economies of California and NY and then turn around and decry “socialism” lol
what a silly argument: the top one percent make about 20% of the income, and pay about 40% of the income tax and all the death tax which is nothing more than a surcharge on the rich. Lots of wealth does not generate any income. you jump from wealth to percentage of income.Technically the rich pay the larger portion of the total. They earn or hold 90% of the wealth and pay 70% of the taxes. The rest own 10% and pay 30%. That tells us the poor(er) pay a larger share of their income. That's the math.
