I have always had the political belief that the people own the Government, not that the Government owns the people.
I have always had the political belief that the people own and run a business. The business doesn't own the people.
A Libertarian-Right told me tonight; "America has the highest rate of black hair brown eye people in the world. What if they decided to place their laws upon us?" (He immediately backtracked and said it wasn't racist, but confirmed it was a good point)
So the question is (for anyone who actually read this far down in a thread);
What group matters the most to you in the USA?;
A) The People
B)The Government
C)The Corporations
The people because without any people there would be no government.
Not true. The government has plans to evacuate Congress, the President, and his cabinet in the case of annihilation such as nuclear war. There are no such plans to evacuate the people. They are unimportant, and always have been.
Without no people they would have no one to govern and gain legitimacy from.
Certainly so they are. Most governments are seen as legitimate and others not so much.Well all governments are not legitimate,
I would disagree. Talking in a "nuclear war" speech its understandable that the government is taken to safety ASAP so basic functions of government can continue, but in everyday terms the people are way more important.but I believe the original question is asking who is most important and that is the government by far. The people are definitely the least important of these 3 groups.

Well then we have to agree to disagree. But in reality our gov is legitimate.Well in my view all governments are illegitimate, regardless of how they are "seen" by uninfomred subjects.
Because the people cannot handle anarchy, especially in a time of disaster.Why is it important for the government to continue? Should we all rest assured knowing the president and his cabinet are safe?

Corporations own the government. Corporations are people. Ergo, the people own the government.
