Shortbread or shortie is a traditional Scottish biscuit usually made from one part white sugar, two parts butter, and three to four parts plain wheat flour. Unlike many other biscuits and baked goods, shortbread does not contain any leavening, such as baking powder or baking soda. Shortbread is widely associated with Christmas and Hogmanay festivities in Scotland, and some Scottish brands are exported around the world.

Who likes Scottish Shortbread?

We make it on the holidays. I am not a big fan.

I love shortbread cookies with Earl Grey tea as an evening snack.

I occasionally add chopped pecans to shortbread cookies.

I grew up with it in my diet, but like a lot of Scottish foods it's too sweet. Sugar held together with damp flour, baked, and dusted with extra sugar! Usually reserved for celebrations and especially New Year.
Happy Walpurgisnacht for Sunday!

They are also fine with Whisky. :)
Whisky tastes and smells like an ashtray to me. I used to like gin and tonic or gin and ginger ale occasionally, but now I cant have alcohol because of possibly deadly medication interactions.

Today I have bought a packet of Scottish shortbread again.
Shortbread is super easy to make. I like to use it as the basis for cheesecake. Ground up Pfeffernüsse cookies also a good base for cheesecake.
