DHS draft document: White supremacists are greatest terror threat
White supremacists present the gravest terror threat to the United States, according to a draft report from the Department of Homeland Security.
Two later draft versions of the same document — all of which were reviewed by POLITICO — describe the threat from white supremacists in slightly different language. But all three drafts describe the threat from white supremacists as the deadliest domestic terror threat facing the U.S., listed above the immediate danger from foreign terrorist groups.
“Foreign terrorist organizations will continue to call for Homeland attacks but probably will remain constrained in their ability to direct such plots over the next year,” all three documents say.
Russia “probably will be the primary covert foreign influence actor and purveyor of disinformation and misinformation in the Homeland,” the documents also say.
[. . .]
None of the drafts POLITICO reviewed referred to a threat from Antifa, the loose cohort of militant left-leaning agitators who senior Trump administration officials have described as domestic terrorists. Two of the drafts refer to extremists trying to exploit the “social grievances” driving lawful protests.
The cut-off date for information analyzed in the earliest draft is August 3, 2020, while the cut-off date for the next two is August 27.
White supremacists are greatest terror threat
Some who post on DP continue to spew hate toward BLM and AntiFa - simply because they need some kind of an excuse to attack political opponents. It seems though, that those who actually have some idea about danger posed to normal America don't see the two groups as major terror threats. One must wonder why

I have yet to see anyone shot dead in the face in front of their spouse and three year old child, for daring to say "Black Lives Matter".
I have yet to see anyone supporting the GOP commit arson or looting.
I haven't seen Trump supporters launching mortar fireworks at police, throwing bottled gasoline bombs, and threatening to burn down the homes of people based on their race/ethnicity.
I haven't seen any right of center group declaring WAR on a Race or the Nation.

I haven't seen GOP members or Trump supporters calling for the death of COPs or a specific race/ethnicity.
I haven't seen Trump supporters advocating racial genocide.
I haven't seen but a mere handful of people claiming whites are "Superior" in the last 30 years!
I have seen a whole bunch of people, mostly radical college professors, claiming that Blacks are superior.
hmmmm...

“I have no qualms criticizing the white supremacy threat,” said Ken Cuccinelli, DHS’s second-in-command, in a recent interview on MSNBC. “Neither does the secretary, neither does the Department of Homeland Security. We recognize when those people act out violently, that they show the highest level of lethality, meaning if you compare the number of violent incidents to the numbers of deaths, the numbers of deaths relative to the incidents is very high compared to other types of threats."

This is nothing new... the have long been considered the top threat to America.
It may not be entirely new, but the cranking up of the volume on it and its emboldening and entering mainstream politics in the Whitehouse with the likes of Bannon and Miller IS something new after the 2016 election.

My home town has a history of white supremacy.
The "good ol boys" usually get caught for drug trafficking and thrown in jail pretty quickly after high school. They don't have the best upbringing.
These same good ol boys though aren't rioting in the street and destroying businesses.
Antifa is.
When white supremacists are the ones rioting in looting, you'll have an argument, until then, I'd rather open a business in my home town, than in portland or Minneapolis.

Right-wing terrorism has long been acknowledged as the biggest threat of force and violence against others. You can admit this, study history, and understand; or you can regurgitate Cultist Propaganda. It's up to you.
Some people need to remove the Goggles of Truth before making claims such as this one: "I haven't seen Trump supporters launching mortar fireworks at police, throwing bottled gasoline bombs, and threatening to burn down the homes of people based on their race/ethnicity.
"I haven't seen GOP members or Trump supporters calling for the death of COPs or a specific race/ethnicity." Open your eyes.

The highlighted comment is an underrated point.
Why is it that we never hear about how badly these right-wing extremists were raised? I wonder how many of them were abused as kids and indoctrinated with authoritarian views. I suspect this percentage is high.

because there's really not a lot of them? there's not a whole lot of "nazi" or "KKK" neighborhoods out there. They do exist, mainly in former, run down coal towns, but most estimates i've seen are between 5,000 to 20,000 people in a country of 300 million. By the vast numbers of mentally ill people, the amount of druggies, and overall abused people, you'd think there'd be a lot more.
It just shows you how progressive the country really is over all, that even under bad conditions, white supremacists are still the most marginal of the marginal fringe in the country, and are not taken seriously by any capacity.

Exactly nineteen years ago, the worst terrorist attack on the US was executed by a tiny number of people.
There are many more right-wing extremists today who would be also be more than happy to murder innocent people if they don't get their way.
No, by an organized group of sunni muslim extremists thousands of miles away, with the backing of saudi and (potentially) egyptian governments.Exactly nineteen years ago, the worst terrorist attack on the US was executed by a tiny number of people.
I'm sure they would, but they are not operating under any sort of central organization or backed by any resources. The leading world-wide extreme organizations are islamic radicals and usually have the backing of host governments. It wasn't the KKK that did 9/11, the most deadly terrorist attack in history, it was centrally organized islamic extremists 12,000 miles away. There are many more right-wing extremists today who would be also be more than happy to murder innocent people if they don't get their way.
