White House Rose Garden bulldozed as work starts paving it over
Since his return to the White House, Trump has transformed the Oval Office, making some of the most significant changes to the room's appearance in modern presidential history. There have been gold medallions, gold vermeil figurines, gold eagles and gilded Rococo mirrors added.

It has also been reported that Trump wishes to build a ballroom in the White House, similar to the one he has at his Florida estate, Mar-a-Lago.

On Monday of this week, reporters noticed that work had begun in the Rose Garden.

The Associated Press reported that the project will be completed in approximately two months, citing a White House official who was not authorized to comment publicly.

This same official said that employees of the National Park Service, which maintains the White House grounds, had started the work.

Images show the process of paving over the Rose Garden, first with construction crews digging up the grass, then poles and mud in the garden area. The most recent images show the garden covered in what looks to be gravel.

Trump previously said he would pave over the Rose Garden because the grass is always wet, and it's an inconvenience for women in high heels.

The president also recently oversaw the installation of two flagpoles on the front lawns of the White House, both of which measure 30.5 meters (100 feet) in height.

The Rose Garden was established in 1913 by Ellen Wilson, the wife of President Woodrow Wilson. It was later redesigned by President John F. Kennedy to serve as a space for outdoor ceremonies. It has since become a regular venue for various events, including receptions, press briefings, and other occasions.

Trump has no respect for history, as evidenced by his belief that the Declaration of Independence meant the end of the Civil War. Trump is redoing the White House, which belongs to the American people, a residence that presidents live temporary, into the Mar-a-Lago of the North. "Gold medallions, gold vermeil figurines, gold eagles and gilded Rococo mirrors added", and Trump is far from finished. His endeavor is to out-due the presidential residences of other countries. Coming up next will be a grand ballroom. I have to add, I've been in the White House, I did the tour when Reagan was president. It was almost a surreal experience for me, I'm a history lover, so getting up close to paintings on the wall that hung there when Abe Lincoln, Franklin Roosevelt, Dwight Eisenhower, and other presidents stood, was just awesome. I absolutely hate what Trump has made of the Oval Office, it looks garish, ostentatious, and vulgar, just like Trump himself.

Oh stop whining. He's not the first President to make changes, you just hate Trump and you can't think of anything else but to complain. So what the Rose garden is changing, they are not eliminating the roses, but repositioning and making it a better space. A ballroom, so what, do you know how many overcrowded events take place at the WH in rooms far too small to handle the crowds. If Obama had done either of these you'd claim it was fantastic. I bet you loved Michelle vegetable garden. The largest one to date, but not the first.

The oval office looks more like a whorehouse than the Oval Office of the president.

Presidents are temporary squatters, no major changes should take place without congressional…….oh, that’s right, never mind!

Blah blah blah more slavish self-abnegation. More worship of a man who couldn't care if you died in a grease fire. Blah blah blah.

Have you ever considered just how pathetic it is that every time you long on, you know you've got to say whatever Trump told you to say?

We don't have money for Medicaid, for Medicare, for SNAP, for US aid to foreign nations, for FEMA, and many other things that benefit the American public.
But we have money for Trumps vanity projects trying to turn the White House into some despots royal palace?
Unbelievable and shameful.

Congress doesn't live in the White House. I'm leaping to the assumption that you know there have been many updates and renovations to the WH over the years. Most of things are at the discretion of the President if the funding is already covered in the WH budget. If the plan takes more money than is available Congress would have to approve major changes and additional funding.
Most changes are do not require Congressional approval.

We don't have money to pay for these services for people who are not citizens, who are not legally in the country! The current project is covered in the WH maintenance budget. So stop complaining when you haven't bothered to check on the facts.

I agree with this. There is budgeted money for Trump to desecrate American institutions. To punish this nation for rejecting him in 2020 by despoiling our heritage.

LOL
A Trumper talking about facts.
Now that is funny.
The drastic cuts to those programs I listed are hurting far more American citizens than the small amount of any illegals who were using them.

We don’t need to spend money on renovating WH property.

It is WASTE.

Unnecessary.
Unneeded.

It’s a vanity project and shouldn’t be spending tax payer money on it.

In the old days conservatives down here in south loved nature. Now they've just morphed into people who love to pave anything to make more money.

And in this case, they'll support Trump because he's their daddy. Forget about beauty or style or whatever. He's their daddy.

So not true. It's an upgrade. Over the life of the WH, there have been many changes. Your complaint is just another, Trump hate post.

What we don't have is money to pay for the upkeep of millions of illegal immigrants.

No respect. Trump has no respect.
