More lies to deceive the public. This shows Obama's job numbers have been lies all along.

White House Changes Stimulus Jobs Count - ProPublica

When the White House unveiled its nearly $800 billion stimulus package last year, it promised not only to create and save 3.5 million jobs but also to open the books and prove it. But counting jobs turned out to be a lot harder than lining up a work crew and tapping hardhats.

Now, the White House says it will no longer keep a cumulative tally of jobs created and saved by the stimulus. Instead, it will post only a count of jobs for each quarter.

And instead of counting only created and saved jobs, it will count any person who works on a project funded with stimulus money—even if that person was never in danger of losing his or her job.

The article doesn't know what to be. First it condemns the Obama Administration for changing the rules and then it mentions keeping track of job saving when you are filtering money into the private sector isn't feasible.

White House Inflates Stimulus Job Creation With Accounting Gimmicks

I'm really having a hard time coming up with a justification for this that doesn't involve blatant political maneuvering designed to allow the administration to claim that the stimulus "[something-ed] X number of jobs," where X is a lot more than were actually "saved or created," which is itself a lot more than were actually created.

Aww, hell yes. Let's not let math get in the way of political expediency. There's nothing like transparency.

From what I've read, state and local organizations are having a difficult time understanding how to track jobs saved or created.

Remember the county in Georgia where they wound up with a figure of 935 jobs saved when there are only 508 people employed? It was a math error, because the person doing the report did not know how to find percentages.

This sounds like they're scuttling the requirement because reporting was screwed.

Never ascribe to malice that which is adequately explained by incompetence.

The incompetence is on the people who are screwing up the reporting, but they're not the ones making this change - it's the Obama administration. "We're making changes to make things simpler" sounds like a reasonable idea, but why are they using this particular new method? Requiring organizations to report the number of employees "working on projects funded by stimulus money" is a conscious choice to pick a number that will by any measure be wildly inflated over the actual number of jobs created. What do you want to bet that the distinction between the two will be downplayed as much as possible?

Funny how they are going to include those whose jobs were secure. More lies and deceptions to make Obama look good.

Correct. The Obama administration is the one that scuttled the requirement. The individual state and local governments don't have the power to make that call. The central government were the ones getting the garbage numbers. I'd guess the Georgia numbers I referenced above were far from the only stupid errors, and too many of those render any tracking useless.

I'm willing to take a wait and see approach before deciding that there's a huge conspiracy afoot.

The feds are the ones claiming the inflated figures all along so now they want to inflate them even more.

It's not a huge conspiracy, it's standard political maneuvering. Government agencies do not make changes to programs that are at the heart of a president's agenda without first carefully discussing the political impact of those changes.

This is actually a positive development. The "jobs created or saved" figure was absolute nonsense. This is a more honest way of portraying the same thing. But by showing anything, as RightinNYC points out, they're still effectively trying to assign themselves credit for the existence of those jobs, which is dishonest. And just a wild guess, the jobs figure they're showing now probably looks a lot better than the old figure they were using.

Well,Obama did promise 'change'......

If asked in an interview, Barry would have the same problem.

Funny how they are going to include those whose jobs were secure. More lies and deceptions to make Obama look good.

What other choice do they have?

Not unless they want to admit that a stimulus actually does more harm than good.

So lies are Acceptable? Obama is showing what a hack he is and how he is not qualified to be President

Well he **** up the oath of office, what do you expect?:lol::lol::lol: Actually it wasn't really his fault. Anyway it was an omen.

STIMULUS WATCH: White House changes job-count rule

I guess the rate of job loss is so high that the former bogus way of counting "saved" jobs wasn't keeping pace, so the con men in the White House had to come up with a more efficient way of double counting.

Actually, this bit from the article is obviously what is really going on:

I think you may have lost the meaning of what I was trying to say. I'm not defending the lying by any means. ,
