Which so-called "pagan" things would you like to keep?

Can one still say "pagan"?

or must we say: "poly-theistic" or "original religions" or some such expressions?

This thread here was influenced by that thread there:

3 out of 3 already say:

  • Christmas Tree

  • Easter Rabbit

Some arguments .....

We shouldn't celebrate Christmas because the Early Church didn't celebrate it
The first followers of Jesus didn't 'celebrate' Christmas or Easter as such. But they certainly 'remembered' them. The birth of Jesus is recorded in two of the four gospels (the four books at the start of the New Testament in the Christian Bible which tell the story of the life of Jesus); and Jesus's death and resurrection is in all four gospels. Jesus himself (and then later Paul who wrote much of the New Testament in the Bible) told us to commemorate and celebrate that.

We know from early records that the early Church formally remembered (celebrated?) the birth of Jesus as early as 125AD - and probably earlier.

I;m non religious, but i'm good with all of those things. Even the holy water. I need it to fight the christian vampires.

Not sure what you mean by "like to keep." I enjoy Christmas trees and have no use for rosaries, but I don't begrudge anyone who does.

I chose other on account of your omission of human sacrifice.

My religion comes and goes as necessity dictates, but you did raise an interesting question: What does one fight Muslim vampires with?

Obviously, holy water isn't going to work, and while I'm not sure about garlic, I suspect garbanzo beans might be a suitable replacement. There is also the puckle gun which, if armed with square silver bullets, could be effective.

Wouldn't a bit of garlic do the job as well? :)

As a see now:
The Christmas Tree is leading the race by 6 points
The Easter Rabbit is following as an honourable second with 5 points.

:)

But the question presented was...

Which so-called "pagan" things would you like to keep?

Good point.

You are awarded a bronze MAGA for making me look stupid:

This should be in the "Beliefs" forum.

Do you understand this text here:
Does it really say that the Christmas Tree is an "idol" - and that Santa is "satanic"?

Christmas originated as a way to celebrate a pagan holiday by disguising it as a Christian one. Now Satan Clause, flying reindeer, mistletoe, and Christmas trees are all methods to remove Christ entirely from the holiday and return it to its pure pagan roots. This verse from Jeremiah is one of the most prophetic verses in the Bible in regard to modern times. It is a clear and glaring warning against this pagan holiday and the wicked time of commercialism and materialism that it has become. The Christmas tree is a blatant affront to God, but many, if not most, professed Christians put one up. Most that do not, do not because it is inconvenient, not because they are convicted by the Bible.

What about that thread then:

So, I take it human sacrifice is not really your thing...😊
I certainly wouldn't volunteer to be sacrificed, and if I were slated for sacrifice, I'd be running faster than Hawley.

That said, if, for example, Pelosi were to be sacrificed in a pagan ritual to absolve our country of its crimes including, but not limited to, the last stolen election, I would advance no objection.
