Different ways of measuring.

Liberals are better at being funny.

Conservatives are better at laughing at themselves.


I respect the latter more, so I vote for it, while recognizing that the first has a strong case.
 
Probably liberals, far less boundaries.
 
Neither.

They both take themselves WAAAAAY too seriously.


Both parties are pathetic and worse than useless.

Conservatives by far. Liberals tend to get offended at stuff that we would see the humor in. For example: I was walking my dog one day and came upon this situation. There was a guy in a wheel chair in his driveway while his buddy was fixing the basketball hoop that had broken down. In front of the hoop was a big skateboard ramp. When I saw it, I looked at the guy in the wheelchair and made a comment along the lines of if he hadn't been hanging on the rim so much, that wouldn't have happened. He laughed and started making smart ass comments right back at me about how he could at least dunk. Then he started in on a whole slew of "cripple" jokes (What do you call a guy in a pool with no arms and no legs? - Bob), he went on in this vein for at least 15 minutes, getting worse, cruder and funnier by the minute. When I tell this story to most liberals I know, they are shocked/offended, when I tell it to conservatives, they want the guy's address so that they can meet him.

Maybe the conservatives are better at laughing at themselves because the liberal jokes are funnier.

Most every Republican that I personally know is an older angry white guy with ZERO sense of humor. Their only enjoyment in life appears to be listening to right-wing radio and getting angry at the world.

... Maybe, but I kind of doubt it. Too much Everything Is Offensive there. Make fun of conservative old white guys, and the Conservative old white guys can laugh. Make fun of black gays...

I am 58, and I laugh every time I hear that same knuckle head "talking point" comment. Most guys my age grew up in a era where we could laugh at each other, and we still do without fear of needing safe rooms.

Which doesn't really refute the idea that perhaps the conservative-old-white-guy joke may be funnier. In my experience, liberal humor tends to be based in some form of irony, whereas conservative humor is often grounded in meanness. At best conservative jokes are grounded in the principle that they're making a joke, ergo it's funny. The 1/2 hour News Hour was particularly guilty of the latter.

 
How many successful news satire shows are there with a conservative host?

To paraphrase a former one, humor has a well-known liberal bias.
 
Look, Liberals do have to be more clever with their jokes to fit in to the SJW crowd, Conservatives really don't give a damn, and can joke about everything. Usually the most funny people don't give 2 ****s about politics or joke about it all day.

Jeff Dunham is conservative!

None of the above.


Lefty comedians are better. But, the PC crowd has no sense of humor at all. So they cancel each other out.

Righties have a stick up their butt---which is kind of funny. But, being the joke does not mean they have a good sense of humor.

It was a joke :), way too many are overly defensive of everything including their values, can't they just joke a little especially the the extreme traditionalist, and religious ones that basically want a theocracy then criticize Iran.

It has been my experience that conservatives take themselves waaaaay too seriously. The same can be said of extreme leftists. I once cracked wise that that ladies pump high heel with a stiletto heel was not only an amazing engineering achievement but a major motivation for male teens. All but two people laughed, the conservative said shoes required no engineering, that was stupid, and the leftist called me a sexist.

That to me said it all

..and there's exactly what I was talking about. The guy in the wheelchair had no issue with the jokes, so why should anyone else?? Yes, they were in bad taste, but most jokes are. The difference is that liberals get all butthurt over them (as you did) and conservatives see the humor in them.
