Which is more likely, that Qatar expects some benefits or no benefits from United States in exchange for $400 million gifted plane?

Does the Qatari government expect to get anything in return for the gift?

  • It is more likely the Qatari government expects literally nothing in return

$400 million is just under 1/500th of Qatar’s GDP. That is the amount that the “Palace in the Sky” is estimated to be worth.

Do you believe that the Qatari government is making this gift of 1/500th of its GDP with the expectation of receiving literally nothing in return or with the expectation of something in return?

It could be as much as a quid pro quo or as little as just expecting to be looked at more favorably than if they hadn’t made the gift in future decisions the Trump administration makes, but do you believe it is more likely than not that the Qatari government expects some sort of benefit for the gift?

It's obviously intended as a bribe. It's for his use, both during and after the presidency. This never happened before.

Why the hell else would Qatar say "here's a 400 million dollar plane"?

A link MIGHT have provided some context. Right now I don't know what the hell you're talking about.

No doubt about it. Qatar expects far more than their original investment.

Eh? That's also a gift to Trump.

Wouldn't the quid pro quo be something Trump does for the Qatari royal family?
Qatar has been actively seeking out/enticing opulent development in a bid to compete with Dubai as the rich persons playground.

“It’s hard to see it as a coincidence when Trump’s company just announced a new golf resort in Qatar, reportedly partnered with a company owned by the country’s government, and will soon be meeting with senior Qatari officials in Middle East trip that also features meetings with heads of state of two other countries he has property developments in,” the spokesman, Jordan Libowitz, said in a statement.

Representative Jamie Raskin of Maryland criticized the gift, saying the president must first seek Congress’s consent.

“The Constitution is perfectly clear: no present ‘of any kind whatever’ from a foreign state without Congressional permission,” he said on social media. “A gift you use for four years and then deposit in your library is still a gift (and a grift).”

This is an absolute violation of the emoluments clause.

Plain and simple, this is just another of Trump's grift.
Trump continues to profit from his office, which is illegal. Accepting a 'gift' of this magnitude from Qatar, who gave his son-in-law $2 billion to run his one-man company, was bad enough. Jimmy Carter sold his peanut farm so he wouldn't appear to be profiting off the presidency! Where is the outrage from the right?

Where is the indignation the right showed when two Republican lawyers sued Barack Obama for violations of the emolument's clause in 2016? If you can believe it, this is the reason attorneys Norm Eisen and Richard Painter sued Barack Obama in 2016;

"President Obama has violated the Domestic Emoluments Clause. The President's financial disclosures reveal that he owns United States Treasury bonds, and that he has received interest payments from the United States. See Page 3 of 2015 Disclosures (reporting between $500,000.00 and $1,000,000.00 of Treasury bonds held by Obama directly or through an IRA). The interest income paid by the United States to President Obama is not part of the fixed compensation attached to the Presidency."
Should Congress Impeach Obama for His Emoluments Clause Violations? - Yale Journal on Regulation 😧😧😧😧😧😧😧😧

Do you believe that? Barack Obama received interest on U.S. Treasury Bonds, and the Republicans wanted to sue him for violation of the emolument's clause. Here we have Donald Trump, profiting off the presidency since his first term, selling personal access to the presidency at a cost of $2 million per individual. Selling his #Trump crypto coin and many other ways, he has monetized the office of the president. He has profited billions of dollars since last November with his grifting.

This is insane, and corruption, plain and simple. It's disgusting and Trump needs to be impeached. Imagine if this was Hunter or Joe Biden, or Kamala Harris that pulled self-enrichment tricks like this. People on the right would be marching to the White House with torches and pitchforks. I told people this in 2015, "Trump is a racketeer and a common thug". Nobody believed me. Well, I was right

Donald can be bought.

Where is the outrage from the right?

The right understands and accepts that everyone is primarily self-interested including politicians:

I am seeing much conflicting reports on this.

Regardless, it appears pay to play is taking just a bit more time to work through.

Trump Is Poised to Accept a Luxury 747 From Qatar for Use as Air Force One

An agreement for the government to accept the luxury aircraft and ultimately pass it along to Mr. Trump’s library would be the clearest example yet of how he has further intertwined his personal and presidential business in his second term. While Mr. Trump faced criticism during his first term for the way his properties collected money from the government, the last four months have included a flurry of deals around a cryptocurrency firm that has erased centuries-old presidential norms.

One senior U.S. government official said that the Defense Department had determined it could accept the plane. Two people familiar with the language of an analysis conducted by the office of the White House counsel, David Warrington, and the attorney general, Pam Bondi, whose past work as a lobbyist included Qatar as a client, said they had determined it would fall within the law for Mr. Trump’s library to receive the plane. The two people spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss plans that have yet to be publicly announced.

Which is more likely, that Qatar expects some benefits or no benefits from United States in exchange for $400 million gifted plane?

It doesn't matter.

They are going to find out...just like those billionaire Trump supporters found out...that Trump doesn't engage in pay to play. He was happy to take those billionaire's money during his campaign, but he told them up front that their money won't buy any support from him. He remains focused on his agenda (America First).

😂😂😂😂

The person in US government who decides if this "gift" to president Trump by Qatar breaks any US laws is Attorney General Pam Bondi.

Ms. Bondi's previous job was being a declared lobbyist for the Qatari government at $115,000 per month. Lol. No conflict there.

What exactly is the problem with the existing fleet at Trump’s disposal?

This “gift” is wrong on many fronts.

What’s the old adage, “no such thing as a free lunch.”
