Where is the money?

Over and over we hear there is only 10% of the Covid relief plan that actually goes toward Covid relief. The rest is largely wasteful pork to democrat supporters.
 
What a surprise! Libertarian think tank doesn't like government spending. Up next on tonight's news, dog bites man.

Back in the real world, most of the money is going to stimulus checks, bolstering unemployment and various tax cuts. Yes, some of it is going to people who don't need it, but few people fall into that category. The biggest boondoggle so far is the Payroll Protection Plan, which was a mess, because, unlike many other nations, it apparently never occurred to anyone in the US that the federal government might actually need to deal with a massive economic crisis. But even that wound up doing some good.

This is why, in case you and the FEE missed it, the latest stimulus bill is stunningly popular -- it has support by nearly 70% of Americans. "Popular government policies that try to fix major socioeconomic issues" of course is what truly strikes fear into the heart of libertarians.

Otherwise, there is remarkably few dollars going to issues unrelated to COVID. Some people (most conservatives in this case) just see the word "million dollars" and shit their pants, imagining that is a huge sum of money, when it is barely a crumb knocked off the table.

The GOP is most guilty of this lie because instead of disabusing what they know is a lie and harmful to American unity, they will allow you to drown in ignorance for your vote. The proof will be in govt documents. You'll notice that 45 hasn't released almost anything about where the first set of PPP loans went. Hopefully President Biden's administration will be more forthcoming. If govt dept's don't release documents, FOIA requests can be filed.
 
So ... since congress passed the legislation shouldn't it be up to congress to "release" information on how the money is spent? How does the president's admin factor into public responsibility?

What we hear is wrong. The $1400 checks are $435 billion. Do the math. 435/1900 is more than 10% on that item alone.

Don't want to debate the 10% number as it does not seem correct. That being said the 1,400 checks are going to many that have not been economically impacted by the pandemic. You probably know this but are throwing out a B.S. as some form of "debate".

Democrats passed the American Rescue Plan because they knew it is only for the benefit of all Americans. Republicans lie about it because they love the downward spiral their fake god put them on.

None of it was spent on anything. Joe Biden just signed the bill a few days ago.

There is no "area 51" in the USA. That must be British slang for a district.
 

And? The issue is the continued right-wing lie that only nine or ten percent is Covid related. The evidence is clear that some 85% is Covid related.

The fact that not all of it is Covid related is an indictment of just how dysfunctional Congress is. To get anything done, they all have to attach liberal and conservative agendas to any legislation.

lol ... Good point, better humor, but ... I care about what kind of future I leave to the next generation, and ... I eat a healthy diet and am trying to age as gracefully as possible ... if that means a little less dessert then ... so be it!
