Where has patriotism gone?

I didn't realize that flag stickers were what made a person a patriot. I guess that means that I stopped being a patriot about the time "everyone else jumped on the patriot band wagon". I would prefer to qualify someone who actually advances the liberties of the people as a patriot.
I have advanced the Liberties of the people on several fronts for most of my life. The list isn't bandwidth friendly, so I'll not post it at this time.

I like a lot of things about America. But I dislike some things as well. Some things some segments of our population do embarrass me. I'm not at all embarrassed about admitting that. I mean, look at our current Congress. What on earth is there to be proud of with them?

We used to be on top in just about everything. We aren't any more. Continuing the same level of pride despite this fact simply doesn't make sense, and qualifies as delusion. I'd rather have people engage in a competition to make America better than a competition to be the most patriotic.

My home owners association does not permit public display of our flag except on certain holidays so I am prohibited from showing pride in my country for three hundred and sixty two days of every year. "G.B.A."

I love our country and I consider myself a patriotic American. Obama and the left are trying to change it into something I don't recognize... but I will fight to the bitter end to keep the America I know and love.

a country is the people who inhabit it. a country, and it's people, have to evolve. in 1950, institutional racism was accepted and even embraced, right? is THAT the america you miss? in 1900, women couldn't vote, is THAT the america you miss?

simply by bringing politics into your answer tells me you are not patriotic, you are all about yourself. patriotism is greater than one.
