Where hate lives.

Can you guess?

Does it live in a political party? Does in live in a demographic? Does it live in a religion, or more in one religion or another?

Does it live in a Trumper? Or in a Liberal? Or in a Democrat or Republican?

Consider:

Hate is indeed demonstrated by some members of certain political parties, certain demographics, certain religions. That is.... some members of. Yet we believe hate lives within this group or that, excusing our own hate.

But hate is not a Christian thing, nor a Muslim thing. It isn't a straight or gay thing. It isn't a black or white thing. It isn't a Democrat or Republican thing.

There is ONLY one place where hate truly lives. And that place doesn't have a demographic or denomination.

Can you guess where that might be?

In the mind of the hater.

But some groups have more haters in them than other groups.

From "Psychology Today"
"What Is Hate and Where Does It Live in the Brain?
Posted August 2, 2022 by Abigail Fagan
"The brain evolved a unique hate circuit.
Hate emerges in the presence of moral violations particularly when the targets of hatred are perceived as bad, immoral, and dangerous. A recent fMRI study showed a unique pattern of activity in three main brain region: the insular cortex, putamen, and left superior frontal gyrus that has been termed the hate circuit."

The article says the same three sections of the brain show activity when the person is rejected by someone they once cared for. Interestingly many conservatives claim their values have been rejected by Democrats. Ms Clinton's "Basket of Deplorables" was a rejection guaranteed to elect Trump.

Hate does not live. It is variously an emotion, a dislike and a principle. It comes in a multitude of different forms I may hate dictators, Brussels sprouts (do they exist in the USA?) and rock 'music'. So I don't think your thread will generate much enlightenment but good luck all the same.

Thanks. My wife looked at the link and liked the idea - I remain unconvinced but will have a taste.
The trick is to caramelize the sugars in it just a little bit. That heat also helps to break down the bitterness.

Back and to the right.

Ms Clinton's "Basket of Deplorables" was a rejection guaranteed to elect Trump.
Was that an opinion or an expression of hatred?

Hate does have a residence. It can't exist in a vacuum. So in that way it does "live" somewhere.

What does this have to do with philosophy?

The better question is...is hate always wrong/bad?

Explain it.
omg, philosophers have mused about love and hate since the beginning of civilization. you don't like the forum I posted this under, then just move on to another thread.

Ask Jesus.
Jesus' words...

“If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple." Luke 14:26

What philosopher "mused" about love and hate?

Do you hate your father and mother, do you hate your children, brothers and sisters? If you don't, you can't be a good Christian.

Well, obviously Jesus did not mean that his followers were to feel hostility or loathing toward their families and toward themselves, as this would not be in agreement with the rest of the Scriptures, such as Mark 12:29-31 and Ephesians 5:28,29,30...what he did mean is that we must love him more than anyone/anything else...
