Mid range and lower earners donate more to charitable organizations than the wealthy. Frankly.....I'm not surprised. The difference in someone from the upper 1% and a mosquito is that a mosquito stops sucking blood before it explodes.

p.s..................middle income earners also pay at a higher effective percentage in total taxes.

Should all rich people be required to undergo psychiatric treatment?

You've offered no proof, therefore I think this is bull****.

LOL - wow . . . being wealthy or perhaps stingy is a sign of a mental defect? :lamo

As the Simpsons version of Bill Gates said, I didn't get rich writing a lot of checks.

The people most greatly to be pitied are the beautiful and the wealthy. They have so many distractions keeping them from the truth.

and the states that gave the most to charity are red states of what people like you call rednecks.

so now you support the religous middle class donating more to charity to through religious obligation,or are you just using them to hate on rich people with the whole the enemy of my enemy is my friend idea.

Not true. They may donate a smaller percentage, but, by far, they donate far more $$. Here we go again . . .

There's nothing to debate, no link or evidence was presented.

Translation:

Purple monkey dishwasher therefore oranges are actually green.

Rich people donate money to "charitable" foundations, like Cruise with the Church of Scientology or Romney with the Mormon church, that primarily promote their political agendas. I'd be shocked if more than 1% of that "charity" actually went towards good works.

That explains why all the smart people are poor.

It's greed...selfish greed. Right now Donald Trump is in court fighting a charge of outright fraud involving the sale of a half million dollar apartment to an 84 year old woman. The selfish bastard signed a contract about which he had told her she would be earning income from amenities in the complex and knew there was a single, simple clause in the contract which gave him a way out of her ever getting a penny. When interviewed by the press he accused her of "playing the age card"

The rich never get enough. This country used to be a good place when it still had a middle class. America is rapidly changing into a Lord/Serf society. You know it's bad when the rich start wars and make billions from it while the least financially able in the society go and fight in them often to the death.

Imagine what Trump would like like if spending on food was the same percentage of income as what Campbell spends... :crazy3:

Since 1985, LDS Charities (aka Humanitarian Services) of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has provided aid regardless of cultural or religious boundaries. Emergency assistance is provided through the Humanitarian Aid Fund, and long-term aid is provided through major initiatives such as clean water, wheelchairs, neonatal resuscitation training, vision care, immunization, food production, and a variety of local area initiatives.

Two tenets of humanitarian aid define LDS Charities: 1) One hundred percent of every dollar donated is used to help those in need without regard to race, religion, or ethnic origin, and 2) LDS Charities helps people attain self-sufficiency so they can be self-reliant long after LDS Charities departs.

In 2011, help was provided to more than 2 million people in 132 countries. Currently we are receiving donations for:

Humanitarian Aid Fund
Clean Water
Wheelchairs
Neonatal Resuscitation Training
Vision Care
Food Production & Nutrition

Just spent 15 minutes looking for percentages spent on charity. The only number I found was .7% of their income from 1985-2008 was spent on charity, which the church contested but I didn't see any numbers backing up their refutation.

I never said that they don't do any charitable works, merely that the percentage of their income spent on them is probably rather piddling. Linking me to that site doesn't debunk my assertion. But if you'd care to dredge their propaganda for concrete numbers on the actual percentage of their income going towards charitable causes, I would be interested in seeing what you find.

Here we go again!

If a family of four donates 10% of their $50,000 per year, which many of them do....a multi-millionaire who earns $15,000,000 would have to donate $1,500,000 to equal it.....which many of them don't. It's easy to get hung up on tax percentages but even that is totally absurd. The guy whose family is barely getting by still has to pay sales taxes, state income taxes, gasoline taxes, payroll taxes, excise taxes, fees for everything from a fishing license to a telephone bill and all this put together would amount to a pittance for the wealthy. Ever since 1981 ordinary workers in America have been getting a royal ****ing while rich people have made out like bandits because of the tax structure.

I'll support flat donation when you support flat tax.

Flat tax.....the only outright Republican scheme which would work better for them than the one they've got now.....thanks to Reagan and the Bushes. Rich people used to pay their way in this country. Now they're like greedy blood suckers....never get enough.
