Why is this in GP, you ask?

Do you really need to ask?

Obviously this thread is totally voluntary. Share what you want but let's try to be civil.

=======================================================

For all of my life, I was led to believe that I was German and possibly Filipino. My last name is German so the first part made sense, and other genetic features made the 2nd part a good possibility as well. So I went for a genetic test for me and mom when I saw a good sale on genetic testing (yes, now the CIA and FBI has my DNA results), and guess what? Like 4% German. I am apparently 14% Filipino which makes perfect sense knowing the family guesswork. The rest was mostly UK.

So for all practical purposes, I'm a white dude with dark hair and brown eyes. Well, most of my hair is still dark...

I'm not ashamed of any of my supposed heritage. Nor do I feel any sense of superiority. I didn't choose this life, I woke up to it.

No one chooses their birth condition. I didn't get a choice, you didn't either. So no one is born to a superior or inferior race, just different ones.

Our two candidates are an older caucasian male and a middle-aged bi-racial female. Get over it. None of those components matter. What matters is who is best for America, based on the person outside of the race and sex.

Surname is Dutch.
Have some German, Swiss, and Irish.
And if we were to ascribe to the One Drop sort of rule, Native American.
My dad tried to claim he was part "Blackfoot Indian". Native American, 0%.

My family tree has always been interesting to me. Everyone with my surname is related. We have one common American ancestor who came from the Netherlands in 1625. When he arrived here he adopted our surname. And there is plenty of documentation that he married a Montauk princess and had the next generation with her. So from that point forward there has been Native American blood in our line. But now it’s so many generations downstream that the percentage is minuscule.

This sounds nice, but we're kind of past this post-racial boomer rhetoric man.

All other ethnic based quotas aside, you or your children will probably be paying taxes toward some form of reparations. Kamala has mentioned this and supported race-based legislation in the senate. Trump, at least in 2016, clearly represented a revanchist ethnic white sentiment.

Not trying to be critical, but every time I read stuff like this it just comes off as insincere or ignorant. The post-racial era of the 90's and 00's is over.

Whatevs, it's all Shakespeare.

My ancestors were Homo erectus. They made fascinating stone hand-axes and their cousins spread all all around Eurasia, while the ones who were my ancestors remained in Africa for tens of thousands of generations. Then they left and I guess spent about a couple of thousand generations in other places, mostly Europe.

One of the DNA sites originates 90% of respondents to the dark continent.

What does this mean?

I have a small amount of Blackfoot, and another type of Indian in me. I do not recall they other tribe. Also about 1/64th black, of which my grandfather in my mothers side would never talk about. These do not show in my DNA testing, but then how accurate is ancestry dot com? I figure the percentage is so low, those gene sequences no longer exist in mine.

The other numbers are of a relative. It is said my family though my fathers side are direct descendants of Leif Erikson, from a woman he raped. My father has several old Viking documents of family history.

Oh... My avatar is a picture of a Leif Erikson statue.

Its highly unlikely that the FBI or the CIA has your test results.

If a serious crime is committed, Police may use voluntarily given DNA testing to attempt to identify either the suspect or a close family member of the suspect. Familial DNA.

I would bet the farm that Ancestry.com isnt sending any test results to the FBI.

It was a joke for the CT minded among us...

@Rexedgar

There was a brief period in 90's and 00's America (some may call it a bubble) where the civil rights era and it's tribulations were far enough in the rear view that subjects related to race weren't particularly popular platforms. White Americans were insulated enough and the proliferation of social justice in academia hadn't yet quite taken hold.

So when I say "post-racial" I don't mean it in a literal sense. I mean it in the sense that race wasn't very relevant as a political platform. Boomers and Gen Xers have nostalgia for this period of relative peace, which is why they all call for this fantasy of a color-blind meritocracy just like the good ol' days with Clinton and Dubya the Elder.

In answer to your question......YES I am a member of the fabulously successful and prosperous European White Male demographic.

I think that our reputation precedes us. BIG TIME. (y) ☺️

How about some examples of your assertion?
What’s a “brief period?”
