Trump calls in press for ‘major announcement’ in Oval Office - but just spent 5 minutes bragging about his ‘wins’

President thin skin doubles down on the bullshit with the help of another trump sycophant trying to convince America what we're seeing happening, isn't happening and if it is, it's for our own good.

An Oval Office event the White House billed as a “major announcement on the economy” by President Donald Trump turned out to be nothing more than a sycophantic presentation by a partisan television commentator who’d brought charts to the White House touting the economic record of the president’s first term.

Reporters who were summoned to the president’s workspace around 4:15 p.m. and were told Trump would be making a “major announcement” ahead of his only scheduled public appearance of the day, an East Room ceremony to honor Purple Heart recipients.

Instead, they were greeted by Trump standing alongside Stephen Moore, a right-wing television commentator and economist who the president had tried — and failed — to put on the Federal Reserve Board of Governors during his first term.

Matters just got worse. A lot worse as the full force of Trump's tariffs take hold today.

From this day forward, things will gradually get more difficult.

Trump and friends brag about the fact that the federal coffers will increase by the billions. They don't mention the fact that American consumers, importers, and businesses will be paying the billions to Trump's government.

Republicans will continue their silence. They are busy looking for rocks to crawl under. They are responsible for this.

The AP reports, "Trump began imposing higher import taxes on dozens of countries Thursday just as the economic fallout of his months long tariff threats has begun to cause visible damage to the U.S. economy.

"Just after midnight, goods from more than 60 countries and the European Union became subject to tariff rates of 10% or higher. Products from the EU, Japan and South Korea are taxed at 15%, while imports from Taiwan, Vietnam and Bangladesh are taxed at 20%.

"Trump also expects the EU, Japan and South Korea to invest hundreds of billions of dollars in the United States. (???)

"So far, however, there are signs of self-inflicted wounds to the U.S. as companies and consumers brace for the impact of the new taxes.

"Hiring began to stall, inflationary pressures crept upward and home values in key markets started to decline after the initial tariff rollout in April, said John Silvia, CEO of Dynamic Economic Strategy.

“I think the growth is going to be unprecedented,” Trump said Wednesday. He said the U.S. was “taking in hundreds of billions of dollars in tariffs,” but did not provide a specific figure for revenues because “we don’t even know what the final number is” regarding the rates."

If Trump's tariffs were not so tragic for our country, I would be laughing my fool head off at that incredulous statement.

His base will believe it.

Trump is an idiot surrounded by idiots. He lies to his rural base because he knows they will believe him.

WTF was this chart about?

Expecting media honesty at this point is pointless.

Obama's Smith-Mundt Act ruined that. Our own government can directly propagandize us now, which Trump is taking full advantage of.

I dunno Friday is the day they usually dump bad news, so Trump is just trying desperately distract from some more bad news release tomorrow. All administrations do this, not just Trump -- the idea being that news is more easily buried on Friday cause the weekend is coming up, by the time Monday comes back the news from Friday is kinda stale and it doesnt take much to distract the people with newer news on Monday. Tried and true strategy.
