Do you pretend it didn't happen and go to your room and drink and not talk about it (my solution)?
Do you yell at her and demand she never do so again?
Do you ban her from seeing her friend and demand she never talk to her again?
Do you set up camera's in her room?
Do you sit down and talk to her about why she did it?
Do you warn her about God and the fiery pits of hell?

would you ignore it if it were a boy? Cause I wouldn't.
Though I would have an easier time ignoring it if it was with a girl, since I would just assume it's nothing serious

You ask her about it and advise her on relationships. She's still pretty young but it would be a good teaching opportunity.

It's your daughter. You talk to her and make sure that she knows you love her and that you care about her.

The one thing you don't do is say anything that could be construed as judging her sexuality. You can talk about sneaking behind your back and being cautious about who she hangs out with but don't make the problem about "you kissed a girl".

I would do exactly what I did. I took her out for dinner, just the two of us and we had a long conversation aimed at her age, perceptions etc. and merely said going forward "be sure this is what you want."

Your list of "suggestions" is insulting to intelligence but typical of the excited states

What if her feelings are actually emotional and not just connected purely to lust or to practice to impress guys?

Shallow lust is great, but when feelings exist, that's when it's bad

12 years old...I honestly don't know. I think I'd want to talk to her. This one is difficult.

First i Wouldn't assume it meant anything, or I'd remind myself of that. Because 12 years old is a point in which kids explore their sexuality.

Assuming I'm a heterosexual parent and wanted the best for my children and that didn't include homosexuality is difficult. So I may not be the best person to listen to. Instead I'll give you my perspective.

I really wanted to know and still do want to know what my parents thought when i came out to them. If they blame themselves. They weren't to fond of the idea of me being homosexual. As a teenager it ate at me deeply to the point i didn't sleep for weeks. Though i wasn't depressed much of my youth there were bouts of it every now and then.

Now I'm not saying your daughter is homosexual or even thinking about it. This may just be a dare. But you have to put aside your feelings.

To be honest I'd worry more about her kissing girls to impress guys. Willing to do anything to get the interest of guys is a sure sign of insecurity.

if one has open communication with their kids then one knows how to respond appropriately for their particular kid

each kid is different :shrug: go with the flow

I can't speak for anyone but myself but I remember my friends and I at that age experimenting. Kissing and rubbing up against each other. If I caught my daughter doing that, it would be a good opportunity to talk about what she is feeling and how she is expressing it.
