I was informed in another thread what they were, do you know?

It is finished or Father in your hands commit to you my spirit

It depends on which book you are in.

Now that I've given the serious answer...

"Ok guys, prank's over... guys?"

I'll be back.

But he hasn't been back yet. We know that because history says he was crucified.

Apparently an AR-15 and a dozen donkeys carrying ammo isn't enough. He's biding his time until there are better weapons.

Like all good conspiracy theories, this one can't be proven wrong. When history changes, you won't know it. Instantly history changes from "Jesus was this cool dude who healed people and preached good things" to "Jesus was a mass murderer who claimed to be God, and the best reason we should ban all research on time machines."

Though of course, history would be different in many other ways.

I have it on good authority that he came back, only to die at Auschwitz.
NBC news has not verified this report. ;)

Relying primarily on my superficial research and a tad bit of imagination, I submit the following script:

“Father, forgive them, they know not what they do.” Simultaneous with a few last breaths, Jesus sighed and in a hardly audible raspy voice, whispered, “It is finished.” “I am thirsty.” A brethren dipped a sponge in a nearby jar of sour wine, squeezed a few drops on a hyssop branch, then pressed the branch against Jesus’ lips.

Who among our DP membership really knows? If you think you know, how did you find out?

My ‘No’ or ‘Yes’ responses to three questions about the legend of Jesus:

1. Lord? No
2. Liar? Yes
3. Lunatic? Yes

1. Inspired? Yes
2. Insane? Perhaps.
3. Influential? Definitely!

Jews would never have spread their faith as widely as Christianity. Their God is just mean. There is something about Christianity which appealed to everyone, at least until the Enlightenment in Europe. Leaving aside the terrible Old Testament, which the Catholics insisted was part of the story of Christ (and still has standing among many Christians), the New Testament is a story of hope and redemption, and apart from a few references to the OT, is as unobjectionable as Zen Buddhism.

Unlike the Buddha, there is no doubt a real person named Jesus existed, and did/said most of what is attributed to him in the New Testament. Maybe it's just luck, that he was born on the fringes of the Roman Empire and his followers eventually took over that Empire. But in any case, I challenge you to name any one individual who was more influential.

Twenty responses and we're all over the place, I can't imagine why?

The dual topics of ’how to prove attribution‘ and ‘measuring influence’ create further debate and controversy.

Nonetheless, IMO:

1. lots of doubt exists regarding, “… most of what is attributed to him in the New Testament.”
2. three people more influential than Jesus: Alexander the Great (336 - 323 B.C.), Gandhi (1869 - 1948) and Hitler (1889 - 1945).

People always leave out my Asian steppe nomads who literally shaped the political foundations for centuries to come.

I wonder when we will get a thread that makes jokes of Mohammad?
