When I worked in the record shop in a west Wales town in the early 80's the owner said Robert Plant had occasionally been in and seemed a nice guy. Bron Yr Aur's about 20 miles up the way.Watched an interview with Robert Plant a few years back with Dan Rather.
Rather asked him why Zeppelin never did a reunion tour like so many of the big 70s band did.
And Plant told him they had promoters offering them ungodly amounts of money to do it.
Plant said, speaking for himself, that he could not now sing the songs the same way he did when he was 20 years old and for him he felt that would be cheating fans and dishonoring the music so he declined.
Guess I have to give him some credit for passing on the money.
And on the reverse side my son likes Staind, and Disturbed, and Breaking Benjamin and I have come to like some their music.
So it works both ways.
I didn't love Sonny & Cher. I liked the Bee Gees when they weren't disco. I had to look up The Fireballs because I couldn't remember their song, but I did love the rest of them. I haven't heard Funky Broadway in decades!
Edited to add: and now I can't stop hearing Funky Broadway!
I cant recall my first 45. maybe some Top 40 song. I think my first LP was a Simon and Garfunkel ( mid 60's)
I have 4 daughters.. All are Beatles, etc. Fans because I brainwashed them... Lol.. They like the modern music too.. But they all like classic rock too... Lol.My daughter, before ever hearing them, used to say The Beatles and Led Zeppelin were stupid - just because I liked them, I'm sure. She changed her opinions pretty rapidly.
Ruby Tuesday by the Stones. As an aside, I saw Johnny Rivers live at a small venue in Florida a few years ago, awesome show, he really interacts with the audience.Mine was "Secret Agent Man" by Johnny Rivers in 1966
My first single was "Where did our love go" by the Supremes, which my older sister gave me in 1964 when she bought the lp. I spent those years pouring ever her singles collection.
Got my mom to buy me a copy of "Like a Rolling Stone" in '65.

I remember having arguments in school over which was the better band, the Beatles or the Monkees. I fought for the Beatles, but there were a few lunkheads insisting it was the Monkees. They may be burning in hell as we speak. /sOne poster embarrassingly saud "I'm a Believer" by the Mokees (written by Neil Diamong btw) and then deleted it.
With "Seasons of the Sun" mentioned twice, I was going to say he's on pretty safe ground.
Went to a Breaking Benjamin concert with my son in Broomfield, CO a few years ago.Pretty much. I think she introduced me to Nirvana.

I enjoyed it, they put on a good show.
It was funny though they took a short break, about 5 minutes, about every 3rd song.
After the second break the lead singer grabbed the mic and apologized for the breaks but he said we're obvious not use to the altitude here and nobody told us that at altitude you dehydrate quickly.
So during the breaks they were at the back of the stage chugging bottles of water and sucking on the O2 tanks.
And to think I once considered you an enlightened and informed poster. A pox on your house. The Beatles were a dismal boy band.
Led Zeppelin isn't even proper music. It's the English Olympic yodeling team. It is a blight on the Earth, and proof of a malevolent deity.
I gave all of my LP's to my youngest daughter after switching to CD's, but you can still get a turntable if you have a receiver and speakers to connect it to.I still have Beatles records on 33 1/2. Nothing to play them on.
Red Rocks is a great place to experience a concert.I've heard of oxygen tanks at Red Rocks. I took my daughter up there many many years ago to see somebody she liked - I think there was something to do with 'penny' in their name but I can't really remember who they were.
Nothing wrong with John Denver, he was never my #1, but he put out some really good songs. He died far too young.Annies Song by John Denver.
Yeah, thats embarrassing

Funny how music helps define certain moments in our lives. My buddy was driving me to pick up my first new motorcycle when Feeling stronger everyOur consensus was arrived at via Chicago.
That’s spoken as the absolute truth. I know the feeling.Strange the memories that music brings out.
When I was young, like 6 or 7, my Dad loved Nat King Cole. Use to play his music often and I came to appreciate his incredible voice.
Now when I hear one of his songs it always reminds me of my Dad.
I do have a receiver, and speakers May do that at some point.I gave all of my LP's to my youngest daughter after switching to CD's, but you can still get a turntable if you have a receiver and speakers to connect it to.
I'm not sure if you can buy one in a store these days, but I have seen some good deals for high end turntables on Ebay.I do have a receiver, and speakers May do that at some point.
Don't hate me for being right. And to think I once considered you an enlightened and informed poster. A pox on your house.
I don't hate you, but I may have to give my respect to a more worthy recipient.Don't hate me for being right.
I never bought 8 tracks, but I remember all too well the pencil in the cassette days.I got to be an expert splicing 8-tracks and cassettes with Scotch tape and with a pencil to reel in cassettes.
